So, there is this guy at work who is always sharing unsolicited personal information. Specifically, that he was Air Force SF and that "its pretty much army infantry except in the air force."

Oh, and he has the bolt face logo on his Brodozer.

Is this stolen valor?

Security forces are interchangeable with mall cops.  Mostly.

Unless he was CCT or PJ, he's a fucking dipshit.  If he's referring to Security Forces, he should be laughed at and ridiculed until he runs home crying.

I hate it when tards say that. They have no idea what infantry really does.

We are basically heavily armed security guards, hence the name.

Should be Security Forces.  I have a buddy at work that was in it.  When we first started working together he mentioned he was SF in the AF, and I looked at him with the WTF face, and he was like "No no no, security forces, not special forces...I am a cop"

I am most certainly not the arbiter of who is high speed and who isn't, but the guy OP is referencing sounds like one of the Security Forces guys talking out of his ass again.   Not disparaging Security Forces, what they do, or the people who do their job to their best of their abilities, but the douchebags who claim to be things they aren't deserve to get the clap from crabs they picked up off a public toilet. I've been doing the job for 16 years and I public shame anyone I hear trying to pull this shit off.

Para weathermen, absolutely.

If I'm not mistaken, their weather gear is very comparable in weight to what the CCT or PJs have to carry.  I would consider them SOF on that basis alone.

I would have to disagree, the single best EOD team that has ever supported me on a mission was a three-man Air Force element.

Physically-fit, personable, professional, tactful and more proficient than any Army or Navy team that I've seen in action over 96 month of combined combat time.

I was in the Security Police in the Air National Guard back in the mid 80's to very early 90's.  We only had 2 parts, LE (law enforcement, who did regular police/patrol stuff) and SS (Security Specialist, who did air base and flightline security.)

Never heard of PJ, CC or CCT.  WTF are those?

Yeah, it's not falsifying anything... but I do otice they have a thing about calling themselves "SF", even when they know that everyone else thinks they're talking about Army Special Forces.

EOD is a totally different, and awesome (and relatively rare) group of guys.  They are definitely all of the above as you described.

My old Sq/CC, in a Logistics Group, was former EOD.  He'd run down the perimeter road (4.5-6 miles, round-trip) to the site of our weekly Friday Wing runs (only 1.5 miles).  Quote I'll always remember him for, "I hate running, so I'll never get it done if I don't force myself to do it!"

Unfortunately, Air Force PFT/PRT/whatever they're calling it today became a serious joke before I got out (in Mar 2012).

Np reason why they couldn't have merged one under the other and kept an existing term.

"SF" was stupid, and there are plenty of other words that could have been used, that don't smack of deliberately trying to cause confusion.

I thought the AF was supposed to be smart....lazy, but smart.

Some of those guys are so fucking ignorant, they believe that what makes you "infantry" is carrying a weapon with a barrel longer than my flaccid Johnson after a long run through the snow.

I had to check IDs at the gate to an airfield and salute the wives of officers for exactly one singular day (detail during someone's block leave)...that was the furthest thing from infantry work I have ever done.  Police-calling leaves from the woodline is more infantry than that shit....a fucking leafblower is more infantry than that gate-guard "SF" shit.  Hell, we had our cooks and commo guys pull gate-guard, in actual combat zones.  They were still pogues.  <3

Reminds me of this resume my boss showed me once.  Most of it was redacted for 'security' reasons.  He was not hired.
