I saw the melted road...Has that happened before?
How common are its catastrophic eruptions? |

Nothing but normal seismic activity so far. If anything it's fallen off a wee bit. Things there periodically get disrupted by Fresh hot spots.
There's one spot in a parking lot that became a hot spot a few years back, and they just built a fence around the collapsed hole of bubbling mud. There's one hillside that started blowing up in the 1950's and killed a lot of trees around it, and is now a bubbling acidic pool. |

Yes, it's fine. Probably just making news so there's another excuse to push the climate change agenda. Tough shit for us, if 600K years is all it decides to hold back, we're screwed. But given that there are no indications of abnormal seismic activity, I'd say not anytime soon.

When it does ( and it is way overdue ) it will turn the USA into a third world country of the lowest order, Mexico will look like a paradise in comparison

There are no indications that an eruption is imminent. It's not an exact science, but with the current data it is a statistical improbability that an eruption will occur anytime soon.

OP, the people telling you no are just saying that so they buy all the survival supplies before you do.

Not likely, but there's no way of telling. If it exhibits increased or unusual activity, you will hear about it.National parks service

From what I've read about the formation of the magma pocket underneath Yellowstone, scientists believe that it is formed due to the tectonic plates that form the San Andreas fault, forcing the magma upwards underneath the earths crust.
I would assume that some very major earthquakes would have to take place, before it would start drastically increasing in pressure. |

The image of the ash fall from St. Helens reaching across Idaho and into Montana is a bit misleading. That may represent "primary" ash fall, but I personally experienced overcast skies in Missouri for about a week, once it got here. And the family took a road trip along the Oregon Trail to Ft. Lewis and Tacoma in late Spring that year. My dad gathered samples of ash deposited along the highway from western Missouri, Kansas and Nebraska, Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah. The particle size and color of ash was smaller and lighter the further away from the volcano, but it definitely reached beyond the outlines shown on that map.

I went through the charts, and see that it is scheduled for tomorrow at about 1:35 AM.
