Today we visited a local state park (beach) that was destroyed by Hurricane Rita and/or Hurricane Ike to see what progress was being made. While we were there we spent about 15 minutes chatting with a guy while our kids played with his dog. He mentioned at one point that he was from Palestine, TX, asked where we were from and then mentioned that he played football in college with a guy from our town.
As we parted ways my husband said, "Did you see his ring? It was huge. It looked like a Super Bowl ring or something." I just decided to look up famous people from Palestine for shits and giggles and found out we'd had a conversation with Bill Bradley and had no clue. |

Ran into Lou Diamond Phillips at The Gold Strike Casino in Tunica, MS.

Famous people are just people. They enjoy being treated like a normal human being. Unless they are a super douche. My town is loaded with famous people

Former St Louis Cardinals player Rick Ankiel at TGI Fridays in St Louis. Me and my cousins asked him for an autograph and he let us sit down and eat with him and his party. Nice guy.

View Quote Speaking of Palestine, I just made a post about Adrian Peterson and the Dallas game. ETA looked at your link. Quinton Jammer has been in the NFL 9 years? Damn, I'm getting old. THat seems like yesterday that he was at Texas. |

My husband isn't into football and I'm just dumb so it wouldn't have done any good. But I do feel kind of bad, like I should have acknowledged it or something. |

Sat across the aisle from Ivana Trump in first class on a flight from NYC to Tampa.
She was going to hawk some product on Home Shopping Network.

I see famous people all the time at work, only one I would go out of my way to meet ask to get a photo with.

I met Chuck Norris when I was 15 at a karate competition in Texas.

Some famous people even browse/post here and you don't know it.

While skiing in West Virginia, I road the lift up with a stranger who was very friendly, his voice sounded familiar and he looked familiar.
But since I wasn't expecting to ride with a celebrity, I didn't think much of it. When we got off the lift my buddy who was waiting at the top asked me what we talked about, I asked "Who", he said "Kenny Rogers" that's who. He recognized him right away, but with the hat and glasses on, I was oblivious lol. Checked around and it turned out that my buddy was right... Kenny had been spotted several times that day by other folks. |

Went to dinner with Steven King. I'd flown some of their family into a small town out west, and my lead passenger invited my copilot and I to dinner. Since they were folks I'd flown before, and were pretty neat people, I accepted. They were flying in to spend the weekend with some family at a resort spa type thing, and their sister and her husband were going to join them, since they'd flown in several days earlier.
I show up at the appointed restaurant and am seated across from and introduced to the sister... and her husband. I recognized him from his book covers, but my copilot did not and due to the laid-back atmosphere, I didn't make a big deal out of it. It was pretty cool though, and my copilot was very embarrassed when I mentioned it later and he put two-and-two together. |

Last year I (holy shit! time flies) In 2010 I spent 30 minutes on the phone talking to Glenn Shadix about his bum knee. Poor bugger died from the results of an accident a few weeks later. Nicest guy, damned shame. Was hoping he would do Beetlejuice 2.

Art Garfunkel - at a BP gas station in a little podunk town in Kentucky. It was about 3 days after the 9/11 attacks and he was heading back to NYC, driving an old black Mercedes. After he left the attendant said he was gonna pay the till for the gas so he could keep the credit card receipt w/ the signature.

I got to hang out with R. Lee Ermey at his niece's house. Super cool guy, he even went out to his car and grabbed some black and white prints from Full Metal Jacket of him yelling at Joker. Signed a couple for me and my dad.

Franco Harris in a chow hall in Kuwait.
Not really a chance run in, he was there with the USO, but was eating. |

Saw Vinny Testaverde (former Bucs QB, Jets QB) walking through Westshore Mall in Tampa once, no one paid attention to him because he sucked with the Bucs.

wife and I went to a bread and breakfast earlier this year and we ended up doing a puzzle with Lynn Swann all night, then finishing the puzzle and had breakfast the next morning. We talked the whole night and had a great time. I thought it was odd the next morning when the Inn keepers were making such a big deal about finishing the puzzle and getting a picture and the puzzle signed. Lynn signed the puzzle and was nice about getting a picture, insisting we be included as well. Up to this point I just thought he was a nice guy, and also thought it was a little awkward that the inn keepers were making such a big deal about framing the puzzle we finished.
It wasnt until half way through a very nice breakfast that his wife leaned over to my wife and I and asked, "did you know he (meaning Lynn) played football?" to which I responded, "oh yeah? what team did you play for?" I then got to hear another guy (who I thought was real good friends w/ Lynn, or at least previously knew him) tell me all about how great he was, all while Lynn tried to down play it and be modest about everything. After that I had so much respect for the guy that i almost sort-of like the Steelers, just because of him (I live in MD/ near enough Baltimore). I also thought he was much younger than he actually was. edit: to give you context, we're in our 20's, and i doubt I would recognize most football players w/out their jersey on. But cant say enough nice things about Lynn Swann |

Chuck Norris at more karate tournaments than I can count...
Bill "Super Foot" Wallace, OSU karate tournaments. Steven Tyler at a gun show in Tulsa... More classes with Garth Brooks than I can count (OSU, Stillwater, OK 1980's) he used to play for beer on Thursday nights at Wild Willie's Saloon. Paul Klipsch, about 30 years ago when I was working in a stereo store during college. G. Gordon Liddy at Tulsa gun shows.. Ronnie Dunn, his brother-in-law used to be an investigator in our unit. George Strait, with his adult son on the sidewalk in downtown Guymon, OK. They were in town for a PRCA team roping competition. |

I've had a few of these. Funniest one was flyfishing with Dick Vermeil twice (and his wife also, who is an expert flyfisher-person) at the club we owned to see if he wanted to join. I also hung out with Robert Downey Jr for hours on end without even realizing who he was until two days later.
It happens. |

I ran into Matthew McConaughey at a small concert at a dance hall in my hometown about 10 years ago. I've met a bunch of celebrities on USO tours, I literally ran into Weeman from jackass once when he was walking around my ship, I didn't see him until it was too late

Another funny one:
A captain I used to fly with was very involved with the EAA, and used to attend their banquets and such whenever he could. A few years back he went to Oshkosh and returned to tell me he got to have dinner with a group that included the young eagles chairman. He said he really enjoyed talking to him, seemed like a neat guy. I informed him that he had been talking to Harrison Ford. He didn't know who he was! I asked if he'd ever seen Star Wars or Indiana Jones and he said he hadn't, and had never heard of the man... |

Blake Shelton and Miranda come into the store when they are in the area, I just say Hey, you need any help, just ask.

Rode in an elevator with George Steinbrenner in his hotel in Tampa. Wished I was wearing my Mets hat. |

Kurt Warner, he shops in the local grocery store when he is in the area. He has property north of town.
Raef Lafrentz. He's a hometown boy. His parents still live a block away from me. |

Met a few famous people through various gigs. I'd say 70% are complete dicks and 30% are amazingly nice.
Randy Travis (when he wasn't on the sauce), Harry Connick Jr, and Jim Ross from wrestling are three of the nicest I've met. |

I may have crossed paths with famous people but I'm horrible with names and faces. There are probably only a couple dozen or so celebrities whose names I know I might recognize in public.
I've been out and have seen people point at people and get all excited, or ask to have their photo taken with someone and I haven't the slightest clue who they were. |

I was told I could meet Tony Dorset.
Who was he I asked. My next question was which one was he. I guess I was the only fellow there who wasn't a sports fan. |
