Hmm..I hope none of my out-going ammo shipments were on that plane......
edit: Yes, I am worried for people as well. Having spent just about every day this last week shipping stuff out via UPS, it was, I admit, my first thought upon hearing of the crash |
|
Rumors keep flying - Facebook seems to think 40 houses were hit.

No!!! I have some stuff on order and live in birmningham. Hope everyone is ok.

Yeah, that's the important thing to worry about, here. Nevermind the crew on the plane or people on the ground where it hit. Nevermind that ammo only ships by ground. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Nevermind that ammo only ships by ground. True enough about the ground shipment. Of course I would be worried about the people and places as well |

I did a tour of the UPS facility in Louisville which included going into one of their 747s..Once inside I was You could play volley ball inside the cargo bay. If one of those went down into a populated area I cannot even imagine the devastation.

BIRMINGHAM, AL -
Update: We have breaking news out of East Birmingham this morning where a large plane has crashed near the Birmingham airport. According to initial reports a UPS Cargo Plane has crashed near 19th Avenue North and North East Lake Boulevard in an open field that used to be a neighborhood. That field is now owned by the airport. Alabama's 13 was on the scene and say the plane is still burning. The crew spoke to neighbors and they say the heard a large boom and then several other explosions. The media has been asked to move back due these explosions. There could be debris covering about half a mile. |
|
Well that's a bit better than a 747 I guess. Still not a small plane though. Edit: Reports are saying an A330. That's a big fucking plane. Carries some 70 tons of cargo. It's compairable to a 747. |
|
I hope that "open field" report is accurate. When I googled up the location, I saw a lot of densely packed neighborhoods.
|
|
Perhaps all the folks who are preoccupied with concern for their shipped items in transit might try to see things in perspective.
I'm so glad your consumer products are so very important to you...but meanwhile, some folks presumably died this morning. |

That's crazy. I hope it wasn't due to the runway construction ongoing. The airport is in the middle of its second major reconstruction. RIP to those pilots. Hopefully the reports of it hitting the airfield are accurate. Otherwise it's hitting tarrant and roebuck. |
