List some good reasons to have your Concealed Carry Permit ...
I'll start .. 1.) If the NICS call center is down, say in a completely insane scenario (bird flu), here in Texas a CCW circumvents the need to call in or be forced the mandatory wait. |

In VA, the only good reason I can see as to why I have it is to legally carry concealed.

good guy card.
(note: this actually worked for me a couple of weeks ago) |

For the same reason I have a spare tire and jumper cables in my car, i am not looking to use them but when you need them you need them.

Because I am an American citizen and patriot, living in America.
So I don't go to jail over carrying something everyone should carry.
For the same reason I have a fire extinguisher in my kitchen.
I don't expect a fire but it's nice to have one if I need it. |

Whoooooo Hooooo is right. |

ability to carry in:
bars unless posted other states (well 30+ other states) no-need for background check It annoys my friends in CA when I show them my card. |

In VA, the only good reason I can see as to why I have it is to legally carry concealed. It's the only way you can carry in National Forest lands in VA, outside of hunting seasons. Perhaps this is now superseded by the new National Park law that leaves it to state carry laws, but my understanding is that that law didn't apply to National Forests, only National Parks. |

So's you can shoot a motherfucker when needed. I would'nt say that to loud. |

What about National Seashores? I live next to Assateague. What a confusing mess the laws are. |

its cheap insurance against unlawful concealed weapons charges
Because shit happens, even when you go out of your way to avoid it.
Because I am not a Hollywood star or important politician who can afford to hire body guards while I demonize private gun ownership?
I live in FLINT MICHIGAN voted most violent city per capita of monsters in the CONUS.
Best reason i have came up with so far.. |

What about National Seashores? I live next to Assateague. What a confusing mess the laws are. Ok, now you are making me regret not printing an highlighting the pertinent sections. You're right, it can be a complicated mess, but the way the law read a couple of years ago [the last I checked] I think National Sea Shores would be analogous to National Forests....so my assumption is that OC is not ok in VA, but CC is just fine. For the edification of others, outside of VA... If you CC in a bar in VA, you are prohibited from drinking. If you OC in a bar in VA, there is no prohibition from drinking. In VA it is illegal to CC or OC in a church, without good reason. Out AG has recently ruled that personal defense is sufficient reason. This is all stupid, since churches are private property, and I fail to see how state law trumps private property rights....it should be up to the landowner. A question here: under what circumstances are firearms permitted at Arlington? In the car, on the person? I just don't know. It's close to DC, so that's got me wondering. |

#1. Because I WANT one!
#2. Because I own three jewelry stores and anyone in my position that doesn't carry is a fool. |
If someone threatens me with a firearm the only person I can depend on to be there to protect me is myself.
because when I carried a cop all the doughnut stops were making me fat

Although I can OC here in NM I prefer to CCW. Unfortunately having a CHL does not bypass the NICS here in NM. I wish it did.

The best reasons I can think of... http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y12/HardShell/RWB%20Family/PortraitJuly2010ALLsmaller.jpg That big ol' ugly guy in the back is responsible for the safety and protection of everyone else in that picture 24/7 and, sadly, there are some circumstances in life where that might require the immediate availability of a firearm regardless of where we might be. (The missus carries daily as well, but that's beside the point here.) Or, IOW, I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. (Stated above at least once, but it bears repeating IMHO.) |

Because there are no good reasons not to

When the State of Iowa screws up and there is a delay between the time our Professional Permit expires and the new one issues, it is nice to also have the Non- Professional Carry Permit.

Each citizen is libel for their personal defense; you may choose to allow others to bear that burden but doing so is a declaration of weakness. Responsible citizens take care of themselves.

Quoted: It only costs $7.50 here in AL. Too cheap not to get one. FTR, that fee varies widely from one county to the next in AL (it's $20/year in my county), but yes it's generally very cheap statewide and there is no class, training requirement, etc. |
