Next: Proposal calls for gun dealers to report bulk sales of ammo.  Bulk is defined as more than one box of cartridges or shells.

I love how it states that 60000 siezed guns have been traced back to US sources. What it leaves out is that most of those are from .gov sources as civilians are not going to sell military grade hardware to the cartels.

Better nip this in the bud, before it gets worse.

Two or more, just like handguns now.  And some dealers will send in the multiple purchase form if you're deliberately trying to get around it by buying one every sixth day.

Good place for the House of Reps to cut funding in January.

Considering the new makeup of the House I'm surprised the ATFE management doesn't see how vulnerable they are to getting their budget slashed, especially after they float such obvious non-starter ideas like this one.

Yes, I think gun dealers should report to us when they are offering bulk sales of guns.

As a dealer... I am more concerned with a person's character or intent, than the number of guns they buy in a single visit.

A person with criminal intent is far more dangerous with one misused firearm, than an upstanding citizen walking out the door with 3 AR15's.

The BATF has no way to track, regulate or speculate on a persons character or intent...  so the next best thing is to regulate the number allowed to buy, or track multiple sales. Gun traffickers need to buy in larger numbers to satisfy cross-border demand. The average person isn't buying multiples... but will undoubtedly get caught up in the regulation. I'm not saying I support the idea, only that I understand it from my (FFL) point of view.

If ALL FFL's had the ability to know what a buyers intent was... we wouldn't have this problem...  but unfortunately, crooked individuals don't always set-off warning flags. Some are more obvious than others...  like the two spanish guys that came into my shop looking for "see-in-the-dark" glasses a few weeks back. A little innocent questioning on my part... uncovered the true intent. "I want to take them back to Mehico with me"

Needless to say, I wasn't interested in his business or his money.

That law won't affect Calif because we can only buy one gun a month.

We also have DOJ people prowling the gun shows in NV & AZ looking for people who purchase >10rd mags, and when they bring them into Calif, they arrest them. Oh BTW did anyone remind the .GOV that Calif is going layoff teachers and so that the DOJ can police the purchasing of mags in another state. Tough job prowling the gun shows looking for mag scofflaws. Another reason why Calif is going broke, political correctness that has nothing to do with any reality.

same couple of pulitzer-chasing fucksticks have been regularly churning out anti-gun articles repeating that 'US guns fueling Mexican drug crime' trope.

Why not just build a wall on the Mexican border, so that no US weapons can drift into Mexico?

Right...it doesn't matter.  Small, reasonable restrictions on your inalienable rights is ok.....it's for the children.

This kind of fucking thinking is why we are in the mess we are in overall in this country.
