Once again you make me wish I could go shooting this afternoon.

I wonder if you can fill it with sand just as well?  Something about kitty litter just kind of turns my stomach.

And I'm sure shot would be way too heavy with that size bag.  Also, I was thinking if you draped something over it you could protect it from the powder flash from the cylinder.

Pretty cool review.

I'm not sure that is legal everywhere, but it is in Texas, on your own land, when hunting varmints.

Same in SD. Live free or die

I'm sold on this model.  Its on my short list to purchase.  Thanks O_P

I mentioned in the other thread that my local range uses a similar bag to the one in that post and that they had to be stacked or jerry-rigged to get even a mediocre position.  Many times I would have to place my hand under the fore stock to get a proper sight picture.  This one looks like it can be adjusted 300 different ways and still give you enough height to fire mag fed rifles and adjust according to the bench height and target/terrain height.

I like to recheck my zero occassionally while out hunting and this looks like the ticket for benching from a vehicle.

Yep, it takes then "play" out of the shooting to be sure its the sights, and not you.

It's usually me.

Looks like an awesome shooting rest, but I just can't do $160 for a couple bags of sand.

I bet it's pretty sweet, though.

I know that resting the barrel of a rifle on a hard support will throw off your POI and likely open up your groups substantially.

Does this also apply to rests?

And pistols (particularly revolvers, since much of the barrel is exposed)?

I notice with slower moving projectiles, like shotgun slugs and muzzle loaders, how you grip the gun, your body angle to the gun, and whether or not you're holding the forearm have a significant effect on where your round hits.

Thus, I sight those guns with my hand gripping the forearm and resting on the bag.  Pulling the forearm back in a 45 degree downward angle to mimic offhand shooting so the zero won't change when I go offhand.

It's almost like shooting a bow how your shooting form affects the shot.

Very impressive.

I made some simpler but similar bags in a 'butterfly' form on my own, but can very easily see myself buying something like this. Good bags are hard to come by.
