I went to the ranch this weekend to shred the fields and decided to have a steak dinner.

Here is a pictoral of the cooking and finnished meal.

My fire ring.  Rocks were collected from a former Hill Country lease that I had.  (anyone in Goliad knows that these rock are not down here.)

Fire started with mesquite (the only firewood we have save for a few oaks).

The ribeye.  Yes, I have guns on the kitchen counter.  The beers were out for me and a friend how stopped by to visit on his way home from his place.

My Insta-Stake grill.  Easy to adjust the height, goes anywhere.

Getting some coals.  Ready to transfer to the keyhole.

Coals under the grill and ready to cook.

Steak on the grill.  I just started cooking.

Finished meal.

Very simple here.  Baked potato (done in the oven as I did not have time to make enough coals to fire cook it) with butter and sour cream.
Coke in a frosty mug.  I won't change my eating habits for the hive.  I do not drink beer with a meal.  All my friends laugh at me, but oh well.
Firearms include my main carry weapons for the ranch.

Kimber Ultra Carry II and CMMG 11.5 SBR.  The Kimber is on me all the time while the CMMG is with me out in the field for swine eradication from the ATV's

And to finish off.

A better pic of the steak.  Perfectly done at medium rare.  Very tasty after eight hours spent on the John Deere shredding.

The Tractor.  I had the disc plow on in this pic.  Shredder is a 15' Rhino Batwing.

Does not conform to the accepted dinner pic, but I had work to do and only took time out to make a tasty open fire steak.

6715 with quad range tranny and front end loader.  That 6-cylinder purrs and is very quiet in the cab.

Discing is plowing here.  Shredding is mowing down the grass/brush etc.  Some of my fields go a year before getting shredded.

You need some A-1 or ketchup for that steak to bring out the flavor.

Yup, it is a bit of work, but very much worth the taste.  Plus I am an Eagle Scout.  The un-spoken requirement to make that rank is to be a pyro.  I can set a fire in a driving thunder storm with a paraffin stick.

If you're not going to have a beer a cold Coke is the acceptable alternative.  And the wood coals you used to cook is a big plus.

11/10.  That looks...deliiiiiiiiiiiiicious.

+1

gseries just loves to attract disgust at every post.  He thinks of how he could word something to do that.  Has he ever posted pics of his alleged fal?  I'd need to see paper in front of the camera and next to the fal, with his username before I believed it.

Anyway, CURSE you Chida for making me put teeth marks on my monitor.

I really can't remember the cost of the grill.  A poster above did find one of the few links to them online.

Only disadvantage is the size, but instant height adjustment is awsome.

I never realized the Finnish people had a foothold in that part of Texas.

Did not know they had a steak history, either.
