The girlfriend's picture is better than your pictures...
Seriously though, just some friendly criticism, some things you might want to do is up your ISO so you can turn up the shutter. Looks like it was a little slow, leading to motion blur. I don't usually go for all the photoshop filters and such but it's personal preference. Enjoy your camera! They're almost as addicting as guns!

They're almost as addicting as guns! I'm always open to criticism. It is really hard to get clear pics with the low lighting I have. I've only had it a couple of days so I'm still trying to figure out how to get better pics. Her picture is quite good though. I really did think it was better than almost all of the pics i've taken so far. Does turning the ISO up automatically turn up the shutter speed, or is that something I have to do seperately? About the only experience I've ever had w/ a camera, is w/ a little sony point and shoot. |

Got the same camera about a month ago, great choice. You are going to love it man. Congrats!
Post some more pics up please |

Whenever I see one of those now, all I can think of is that scene in THE HURT LOCKER... "It's jamming because of the BLOOD! Specialist, clean the blood off these bullets!" |
|
Dont take this the wrong way....
The only good ones were the last three. At first I thought this thread was a joke since the other pictures looks like you were using a cell phone. From what I have learned using my brothers SLR'ish camera, none of the auto settings or presets work at all, you basically NEED to go full manual. |

What kind of blade is in the 6th pic of the OP? I think it's made by Buck. If not, they make one that's nearly identical. I see it in Cabela's all the time and have been thinking about getting one. |

LOL! When I look at your dog's pic, all I hear in my head is "Human, I am disappoint."

All I've got handy for gun porn is this. I was at the range today with my new SIG-556 Classic. My camera is nowhere near as nice as yours is, but it does have a nice Zeiss lens on it. ETA: P.S. the picture your GF took is awesome. It captures the "bar of soap" texture of the polymer Glock very nicely. http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc90/omega62/SIG556.jpg nice. how do you like it? i like the look of the sig 556 classic |

wow, that's a nice looking boat!!!!! |
|
meh, should of got a Canon......
j/k- now its time to build the lens collection, another expensive hobby! |
|
get a tripod. that way you can run a slow shutter without blur. or at least use rifle shooting techniques to stabilize camera (such as resting camera on a bag or something)

As a rule of thumb, I usually only use Photoshop to do what I used to do in a darkroom: Conservative contrast and brightness adjustment. You can also mess with the color to a certain degree, but Jesus, you went overboard.
the original photo of the 1911 looks SO much better. Just tweak the contrast a TINY bit, and you're there. |

The 505 exhibit is awesome, and anyone who hasn't seen it should consider making the trip. I drove a few hundred miles each way to see it a few years ago. (You get a "bonus" too - the Chicago Museum of Science & Industry also has the only intact Ju-87 Stuka on display anywhere in the United States). |

Composition is mostly decent, lighting could be better but you seem to mess with that in photoshop. Overall I'd say you have a good eye. Now get out there and learn to do some manual HDR

This image creates a very moody atmosphere, with a stark texture overlaid with subtle hints of mystery. The viewer can almost hear the tinkling of spent shell casings hitting the ground, as the 1911, resplendent in her glory, acts as a mute witness to the events just prior to the exposure. (There, how did I do? Does that sound like I could be a "Gun Porn Art Critic"? ). |

Quoted: I like this one: http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c284/springfield1911/DSC_0031-1.jpg and this one also: http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c284/springfield1911/DSC_0017-2-1.jpg I know they're not gun porn, but I thought they were pretty good. I'm having a lot of fun taking pics of random stuff w/ the camera though. What filter are you using in PS to do that or are you doing actual HDR? |
