Today you had to be dedicated to show up for this shot. This is hands down the most miserable match we have held in years. If you didn't bring rain gear and waterproof boots you were hosed. The rain never stopped. I think it is safe to say that shooters discovered just how hard it is to operate their firearms with frozen fingers. Saw quite a few guns go down for various reasons Like what? |

We had a SW just stop firing, I didn't stick around to see if it was the firing pin, one glock KB, and one 1911 just quit feeding. Heard of more but just saw the three.

What happened to the glock? Probably .40 with reloads. |

Looks like a lot of fun, and the kind of day that is perfectly toped off by a hot shower, a cold beer and relaxing in the easy chair

damn, one of those guys was in sneekers I saw him around the fire , his ankles looked all red. I think he had just ditched his wet socks. More of a man than me, I stayed in the truck with the heat cranked up(all the way). |

Myself and another ARFCOMer spent 4 or 5 hours at the range today, 35 degrees, sneakers, no gloves and a thin hat (no hair) that worked under my Mickey Mouse's. I have more of a problem with 75 the 35 |

So long as nobody slips on the ice and has a ND.
looks fun/miserable. |

WTF is up with the shotgun with the gigantic magazine extension?
Call me crazy, but I would think there would be a danger of the shot hitting the mag extension. Otherwise, looks like you guys had a blast. I woulda been the retard that showed up WAY underdressed. |
|
lame,
no one was sliding face first over the slush shooting targets.... |

And I would be right there with you wearing inappropriate clothes for the weather. |

No... But is another Arfcommer. |

What happened to the glock? Was there an Earth-shattering kaBOOM! Or was it more like a "WTF, it doesn't work?" Shooter alright? |

I'd really like to think I'm hardcore, but after seeing that I've decided I like being warm too much. Good grief!

It was DAMN COLD!
As the fastest in the slow group I actually won a prize! I am so happy I almost stopped shivering for a minute. As for the Glock, It was a .40 cal and was firing factory loaded gold dots. It blew the case head off leaving the rest in the chamber. Amazingly it did not blow the mag out but it did wallop his finger with the blast. It also blew the extractor out, we did bother to look for it. Worst part is, this is his duty gun! Thank god it didn't happen on the street. BTW, that Chevy is awesome. Me want!!!! |
|
Had I shown up I would have dressed for the part but stripped down to hoodie and jeans to shoot.
I think a lot of people forget how much the cold effects motor function, especially when working with a fine motor skill like safeties and mag changes. |
|
You guys are hardcore. I will say I am not the least bit upset I stayed inside today.

Well you should have shown, then you would have known for sure..... Don't see myself in any of these pics <boo, hoo> but I see my little red wagon |

Badass. All the pussies stayed inside today.
Makes you want to rethink your cold/ugly weather tacticool waredrobe! AC |
|
I see some familiar faces there. I hope to be seeing you guys for the FN/CMMG 3 gun again this year. Hopefully it will be warmer and drier by then.

Making the best out of what appeared to have been an absolutely nasty day.
Kudos to you and those participants. |
|
I'll take a guess that the Glock which K'ed did so on a round which had been chambered multiple times.
|
|
The S&W was an M&P .40. The pistol was fine, it was just bad (old) ammo. Primers just wouldn't go off. Good thing it wasn't the pistol, it was also his duty pistol and he went on duty right after the shoot.

I use the Speer Gold Dot .40 S&W 165gr as my duty ammo and that stuff is HOT. |
