President Donald Trump is open to waiting until later this year to secure funding for a wall along the border with Mexico, White House officials said Monday night, in a shift that could clear the way for lawmakers to strike a deal to avoid a government shutdown on Saturday.

Mr. Trump and top administration officials had previously indicated the president wanted to include money to begin building a wall along the Southern border in the bill needed this week to keep the government running after its current funding expires at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, which is also the president's 100th day in office.

Mr. Trump addressed the issue at a reception with conservative media at the White House Monday night. The president's new flexibility over whether the wall is funded in this spending bill or one that will be needed in late September could remove one of the last remaining hurdles facing congressional Democrats and Republicans hammering out the five-month bill they must pass this week to avoid a partial government shutdown.

That sentiment seems to be echoed most frequently by those who don't live in border states. In any case, despite having an R majority congress, there are enough defectors to throw a wrench anyways. The Democrats never seem to have this problem.

I'm disappointed but I also don't want the Dems to be able to gin-up their base with a wall-based .gov shutdown. It can wait a bit.

I'm sure Trump can find the money....Like cutting off funding to sanctuary cities (Dem strongholds) and using that for funding the wall. If you have not been paying attention Sessions is laying the groundwork for it now giving the mayors till June to comply.

Trump said that Mexico/Mexicans would pay for it.

I don't mind if there was a charge to cross the border. Both ways.
Increase visa fees to legally visit America by Mexican citizens.
Landing fees for flight that originated in Mexico.
Taxes for items made in Mexico coming to the USA.
Congress can cut off Military and Humanitarian aid to Mexico.
Etc.....

Maybe then, the Mexican Govt would want to join the construction process?

Once you realize that the GOP is not your friend, is not a right-wing party, and is nothing more than Democrats 20 years ago it makes perfect sense.

I was on the Trump Train from the beginning from the Mobile Rally, but its obvious that Kuchner and Ivanka and the Neo-Con/Globalists are running things with him not Bannon.

This is not to say we'd have been better off with the Hildabeast or one of the other GOP contenders or McMuffin. Theres just no fixing this from within and you have 3.5 years to get ready.
