Usually, the target of an investigation is the last person to be interviewed. The purpose of the interview at that point is either:
1. the nature of the questions lets the target know how far the FBI has followed them down the rabbit-hole, thus helping the target decide whether or not to plead guilty once an indictment comes. Or, 2. give the target enough rope with which to hang herself. Remember, Nixon didn't leave office because of the Watergate burglary; it was the ensuing cover-up attempt that hung him. And Martha Stewart was not convicted of securities fraud; instead, she was convicted of conspiracy, obstruction of an agency proceeding, and making false statements to federal investigators. As someone else commented in another thread, 3.5 hours is not a long interrogation, but it probably felt much longer to Hillary.
