I had a cat like that once but developed bad allergies and had to get rid of him. Named him Phoenix.

Quoted: Got a call at the office yesterday that a friend of a friend found a very young orphaned kitten sitting in front of his shop. Her mom had been killed and she needed to be rescued, so off I went. When I got there, I found the smallest kitten I've ever seen, and the consensus seems to be that she's around 10 days old. She needs to be bottle fed every four hours, around the clock, for the next week or so. Three of us have adjusted our schedules to make sure she has care around the clock through next week. We need a name for her and I am hoping GD can help. We think she looks like a mini lion, so if possible, we'd like to take that into consideration with her name. Also, any tips on helping a tinyyyyy orphaned kitten would be appreciated as we all have cat experience, but not this young. She's currently on 2tsp of KMR every four hours. http://i63.tinypic.com/2uggl0x.jpg http://i67.tinypic.com/1z4iwx2.jpg http://i64.tinypic.com/2q1zdrd.jpg http://i65.tinypic.com/118gej8.jpg http://i64.tinypic.com/2u543gg.jpg http://i68.tinypic.com/2qnqlww.jpg http://i65.tinypic.com/258ba06.jpg View Quote That is a Possum. Simba of course. Word of advice. DO NOT play with her with your hand, allowing her to bite your hand. Use a toy, string whatever. Mama would have helped teach her manners, and that is gone now. If you teach her to rip shit on humans she will be a nightmare.

I'd read up pages like this related to orphan kittens and caring for them: http://www.feralcat.com/raising.html
Beyond that, you might try contacting some local cat rescue type organizations or vets to see what they might have to offer/recommend. |

There is no more powerful motivator for a cat or a kitten than ignoring them when they do wrong. Handle that little bugger as much as possible though. Get her used to being flipped over upside down and having her paws played with. Hold her until she falls asleep. You can get stuff trained into a kitten in a week or two that would take a grown cat months or years if ever. My Chairman Bubbacat monster was a skittish little bugger with a case of the runt syndrome when we got him, he was scared of everything. Now he's my constant shadow and loves the love. All that happened in the first month we had him. He's like a little teddy bear that occasionally goes out to disembowel something. |

Naming one’s baby girl Amara is akin to calling her Grace in the English language; Carissa in the Latin language or Hannah/Anna from the Hebrew language (all of which mean "grace, favor”, too). Amara is the newest of these "graceful” and "kind” names, and a lovely way to celebrate one’s African heritage. Amara is also a name used among Spanish speakers probably with reference to the Latin verb "amare” meaning "to love” (although let it be known that "amara” is both the Latin and Italian word for "bitter” – see Mara). Many people (erroneously) seem to think that Amara comes from Greek language meaning "eternal, immortal, undying” – although we uncovered zero evidence to support this claim. However, "Amar” (???) in Hindi means "immortal”, therefore Amara could be considered the female equivalent of Amar. Whatever meaning you want to ascribe to your daughter’s name, Amara is a lovely choice. The name is freshly exotic and understatedly pretty. |

"She?" Orange females ain't all that common. As for lion, what about Nittany? Her anal region seems to suggest she's a she, though I'm no expert, so maybe she's a he. Our own little Nittany, when found hissing at us under the missus' car, possessed markings on his backside which appeared to be the developing testicles of a young male kitty. Once the taming process was complete, a cursory viewing of the area by our vet caused him to agree that Nittany was a boy kitty. After a while, as he got older, and we were waiting for further development of the region prior to neutering, he began acting weird, making like he was going to spray, yowling all the time, basically acting like he was a female and going through first heat. So we decided to go ahead and get the neutering done a bit early due to the spraying concerns. Took him in, dropped him off, then got a call from the doc about 15 minutes later rather sheepishly advising us that the behavior we had witnessed had, in fact, been a first heat, and that the procedure was going to be a spay, not a neuter. The things we took for developing balls? Just weird markings. Derp by us all, it appeared. |
