I miss them.

Greatest strip ever. It's the reason I try to make everyone's day a little more surreal
Growing up my parents often said that my childhood was a lot like the strip. I used to kamakasi down steep hills in my wagon. I was also kinda reflective and observant for a kid. Now that I'm a dad it's cool to see it in my daughter.

In the few interviews Watterson gave, he sounds pretty bitter
I count that simple comic to be one of my life's greatest privledges.
Almost bought a couple of the books today at Costco...bought a case of Paulaner Oktoberfest instead.

Watterson was kinda a artsy fartsy douche, but damn was he brilliant with that strip.
His constant whining about commercialism made him sound like a hippie. |

He's given interviews? I thought he pretty much retired to a cabin in the woods and threw all connections to the outside world in the trash can. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Yeah, but when you look at peanuts, Garfield, etc he kinda had a point

View Quote I went and found this, but it wouldn't host and show properly. My img button needs recalibration. My kids are now reading through my old C&H books. |
View Quote Damn... My boy is 10 months old and I recently dug through all of my shit to make sure I still had all my old C&H books. They're safe and sound. |
I thought this was a neat tribute. Definitely has the C&H spirit.
http://imgur.com/gallery/tUzAL ETA: I just noticed the Trump reference. These were made in 2011 so no idea wtf that is about |

I miss him too.
Also, Bloom County & Farside. At least he didn't "Jump the Shark.". |
Is funny the change in perspective reading through those books asa kid,and again as an adult.
They're still hilarious,just for different reasons. |
Sometimes, cartoonists, artist and musicians will "retire" at an early age to get out of a nasty contract. There is still hope.
I remember a previous C&H thread. One of the members here had a cousin or brother in law that knew that knew Bill's nephew (or some weird connection) and had been to his home for dinner and/or drinks. He said that Bill stopped the series in the paper but picked up the pen from time to time and that he had written enough to carry on the comic for several years.....
One can only hope. |

Best comic ever.
Written and drawn by an amazing man who could put the spirit and the problems of humanity, into the voice of a child. "Let's go exploring." |
anyone have a lead on the full complete set for a good price? Including his newest release?
My all time favorite.
And yet motherfucking Doonesbury goes on and on... |
I read a TON of those comics when I was a kid. Loved em. I don't think I've read the very early ones though.
We have like the complete three volume edition in a really nice hardcover format at my place. |
I put the complete calvin and Hobbes collection on our baby registry.
Someone got it for me...we I mean the baby. |
I have the nice box set as well.
Incredible comic. My favorite is Calvin on Halloween dressed as a kid who will have to deal with the financial messes left by the previous generation. And Spaceman Spiff. And the Transmorgifier. I can barely read the last page of the last book. I pretty much tear up every time. |
No other comic better encapsulated what it was like to be a little boy in the US.
I passed my copies of the comics to my sons and they love them. |
