For the semi-autos rifles I've been using that Lucas Oil and it seems to be pretty good. During the real hot weather I use the Slip ewl 30 and the extreme Sub-Zero cold weather I use LAW military lubricant.
What are you guys using for Lubes for your Glocks? |
Hoppes 9 for cleaning
Usually break free CLP for lube Cherry balmz rimfire remedy for rimfire guns Slip 2k greases for bolt guns. |
Lubriplate for my Garand and 1911's, Great stuff, CLP for cleaning
I use motor oil or atf for lube. Whatever it doesn't matter. For cleaner I use brake cleaner. I keep it simple and cheap.
CLP for most firearms. Hoppes 9 blackpowder cleaner for black powder rifles.
clp for cleaning. mobil 1 5w30 euro spec for lube. i think the mobil 1 is 9 years old. lol
Either 5w30 or 0w20 depending whats sitting on the shelf in my garage
Hoppes and some kind of foam barrel cleaner. I lube all my bolt with Superlube white grease and the contact surfaces on the receiver. Also superlube on trigger sears. Mobile 1 oil on the pins rarely. Any rifles / pistols out that get dusty I actually use a rag with Pledge lol.
Ed's red and/or brake cleaner for cleaning. Motor oil for lube.
Mobil 1 drippings from fresh bottles/jugs after changing engine oil. I stopped buying overpriced gun lube 20 years ago. zero issues.
if I need more than a toothbrush and patches to get it clean, non chlorinated brake cleaner, then a complete wipe down with the Mobil 1. |
Kroil for cleaning, Mobile One for lube and Gunslick for slide to frame rails and pistol barrels.
I do still use Ballistol for cleaning Mauser barrels |
CLP for cleaning
Lucas Oil Extreme Duty Gun Oil for lubrication I use both on my 2 pistols, my shotgun, my AR, and my bolt action rifle. None of them have ever failed to fire or function properly. |
I liked the super lube grease for a while, and later discovered that they offer oil, and a spray can of the stuff. That’s what I use now. Minimal toxicity, and no color or scent, so when it gets on stuff like the dining room table, the wife unit is still happy.
I've had a container of Pro Gold grease for the last fifteen years. I spread it on the rail contact points with the skinny end of a military gun brush. I'll probably be dead before I run out. Great stuff.
The other internals get a little Rem Oil or CLP. |
Ballistol for cleaning
Mobil One for oil Lucas Red and Tacky when grease is required Miniwax for the exterior of blued firearms that spend lots of time in the cabinet As an aside, I usually throw my AR BCG's and HK bolt assys in a can of carb cleaner before doing anything else |
I hose parts down with brake cleaner
CLP for general wet wiping Mobil 1 10w-30 for lube using a can oiler |
Hoppes #9 for bores, CLP for most everything else. I also use Tetra Grease on the rails of my semi-autos.
Pretty basic and I have never had an issue. As another poster alluded to, all that other fancy shit is for rubes. |
I use Breakfree CLP for general cleaning and lube. Every now and then some guy will do a lube test trying to pick what gun oil is the best. Generally all lube works fairly well as lube but breakfree clp impresses me as always being very close to the top for rust and corrosion protection . this is what I am most interested in. If I pull something out of the back corner of the safe and it is a bit dry it is no problem as I can easily check and add a few drops of lube, If I pull that gun out and it has rust I am not a happy camper
Grease for M1 Garand. Every now and then on rifles I will use a strong and stinky copper fouling solvent like Sweets 7.62 or Butches bore scrub. At my club I tend to have guys come to me when their gun isn't running correctly. Any time the problem was determined to be a lubrication issue it was never a issue with the owner using the wrong lube . It has always been determined to be a lack of lube. More than once when lack of lubrication was suspected and no gun oil was handy I solved the problem by yanking the dipstick of my truck and stealing a few drops of engine oil. Gun guys at the club and on the gun boards get all excited about certain brands and home made mixtures . Pick whatever you like for whatever reason and use it now and then and I would expect you will have no problems. |

View Quote For the budget minded, I recommend grocery store canola, with about a third generic Dexron ATF. Works very well, doesn't gum up or get stiff even at 10 below. Any colder than that, and I am not going outside. |
MPro7 gun cleaner and MPro7 LPx gun oil.
When I use grease, which is hardly ever, I use Tetra Gun grease. |
non-chlorinated brake cleaner for initial rinse.
Hoppes 9 for cleaning Usually break free CLP for lube |
Ed’s Red and brake cleaner for me too.
But the truth is the Glocks really don’t get cleaned much. I’ll stick my finger in the ejection port and wipe whatever I can, like I’m cleaning out my ear, then drag a boresnake three times through it. It’s worked unexpectedly well over the last 3500 or so rounds. Then 7 drops of RemOil. |
Slip EWL and a Lucas grease in a plastic syringe.
Is it the best? Who knows/who cares. It works. Lots of other stuff works too. |

After I bought a Browning BL-22 lever action and watched a field strip video, I decided I was going to take Browning's advice and not take it apart. Watched another video of a guy with the exact same gun, down to the (1980) year he bought it new, who sprays out the action with Gun Scrubber, lets it dry, and lubes it with a light coat of Ballistol. His rifle looked pristine, and cycled like butter. Might be old school, but I'm considering doing it myself. |
