Picked up one of the new Colt 6” King Cobra .22. I put wood grips from another Colt on it and replaced the rear sight with a Kensight version. Here shown with my 80’s Diamondback 6” .22.  Old meets new.

I just got this Model 27-3 from a local auction house.

Earlier this week, I got this Model 42 from another ARFOMer.

That makes 4 new-to-me S&W revolvers in the last week and a half. Revolver month has been good to me.

My brother and I inherited a pile of old Smifs from my father after he passed last month. A sample:

Attachment Attached File

Top to bottom: M-1917 .45 ACP, post-war Military & Police .38 "pre-Model 10" circa 1948 - 52, and a Model 547 in 9mm for the cancelled French contract. Per something I recently found online by C.E. Harris on another forum, the 547s couldn't handle heavy use with Euro-spec 9mm. The Ruger Speed Sixes they replaced them would, however.

The grip adapters are all from Robertson Trading Post and were installed today. They're for K/L-Frames but as you can see, fit the N-Frame 1917 OK.

Nice inheritance.

Robertson's is about 2 1/2 hours from me. I was out that way a few weeks ago and swung by their store to see if they were open to the public. Unfortunately, they aren't. I constantly see their guns on GB, so I was hoping I could stop in, look them over, and come home with one or two. I was a sad S&W addict when I found out they're closed to the public.

That's a bummer. They do list some nice guns on GB. I bought the grip adapters from their eBay store. I have a couple others from them as well.

In honor of the last day of Revolver Month today, and the first day of Revolver Month tomorrow, I may or may not have purchased something and will post pictures when I get it

Until then, happy Revolver Months!

It's still Revolver Month, guys.

New to me 1982-vintage 2.75" Ruger Speed Six in .357. I bought it from Robertson Trading Post via Gunbroker.

Aside from what are purported to be squadron markings, the gun is in excellent shape and appears to have been barely shot. It's very clean and the action is smooth for a Ruger. It had a set of Sile rubber grips on it which are actually meant for a Security or Service Six with a square butt. I got this set of NOS Pachmayr Compacs off eBay for under $20 shipped. They fit the gun better and feel like they were made for me.

I picked up a no dash model 17 today. Made in 1958. It’s in beautiful condition.

I killed a couple of hours at Bass Pro last week, and they had one in the case that I fell in love with. Didn’t have time to mess with buying that one, but found this on Gunbroker. I would have preferred target stocks, but this one was too nice to pass up. Looks like it’s hardly been used. I have some target stocks coming from eBay, and I’ll keep my eyes open for a set of the correct vintage.

Bump for Wheelgun Wednesday!

New-to-me S&W Model 1905, 4th Change M&P in .32 WCF (.32-20). I installed the Pachmayr grip adapter.

The right side shows more wear.

The bore and chambers are VG. The inside of the action was clean.

The no-medallion grips put it as 1920s-vintage. The serial number is higher than when they started heat treating the cylinders. I don't plan to hot rod it but it's nice to know I don't need to feed it powder puff loads, either.

It’s a CVA Scout pistol in .243. An extremely accurate and affordable option to get into specialty handgun hunting.  I have used that one to hit steel targets at over 425 yards.

Nice.  The furthest I've ever gone with a pistol was 130 yds at Wolfy's 1st Cheesecake.  A well-broken in .45 ACP HiPoint.  From kneeling, of course.

Finally found a fairly reasonably priced 360pd. Slapped some old grips on it, and now we wait for the lock delete plug to arrive, then it's off to cause some nerve damage!

What is that cylinder latch?  Looks like a sinister could operate that.

It’s an extended latch from TK Customs. Makes it easier to open the cylinder with out shifting my grip.

It's been a long time since I've been a revolver owner, and damn I missed the ones I had.  I've started picking some favorites back up and I'm absolutely looking forward to getting some muzzle flash photos with them in the fall.  (Muzzle flash photo is from 9 years ago)

The SP101 Wiley Clapp had some small internal burrs that were pretty easy to work out.  The Match Champion was pristine though, even with the trigger and hammer shimmed to remove any sideways movement. Both got Wilson Combat springs and the MC got some Altamont snake scale grips.  Otherwise I'm not touching anything on them. Now I just need a S&W 617.

@Papposilenus what mount is that? Originally made for the LCR or modified?

Revolvers with a scope longer than the barrel are a special kind of “fuck you” cool
