Ok now that I got your attention... I love you guys, no seriously... at night I undress you with my mind and we all wander the hill sides of Europe nekkid and eating bowls of Jello... ahhh, I feel like breaking into a song... "THESE HILLS ARE ALIVE... WITH THE SOUND OF BASHING!!!" I wanted to say that many of you guys think that moderators shouldn't be able to post their opinions and should concentrate on moderating. What the hell kind of crap is that!?!?! Ok we'll do that once you guys type with your noses and only about AR topics. (Neither one makes sense to me!) As for the bashing. These guys are just like you. There is no power trip, just another bunch of morons with opinions and attitudes. Treat them as such. Don't target them for personal beliefs or for doing their jobs. You're pissed someone locked a thread, then bitch about me, because in the end I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR EVERYTHING. THE BUCK STOPS HERE.[/size5] These guys take your abuse for simply trying to do their best. We're not perfect, we make mistakes, so what? You think it's fun to lock topics? (Well, except for CO's topics.) Listen, these guys know they're going to get shit on for doing it, but they do it out of respect for the rules and because of the trust and faith I have in them. The GD is a pain in my ass. Everyone thinks they have a better way of running it, or a better way of handling things. The topics here range from firearm questions to hot headed opinions about Hillary and Bill eating dinner at Wang's Restaurant. "F' President BUSH," "We Love President Bush," there are so many differences of opinion here that we're not all going to get along all of the time. I ask that you respect other's opinions and if a thread is not to your liking, then don't start pissing on someone else's topic, leave it alone and go to another topic. If you have a difference of opinion and want to post it, then post away! You have the choice to ignore or join a conversation, so in the end you'll either be another voice (pro or con) or an asshole trying to ruin a topic because you don't agree with it. I think we have some great minds that come here and I'd hate to think people are shallow enough to think they are better than others. I also hate to think people believe we're targeting them or their threads for any particular reason. If things look like shit, and smell like shit, then most likely it's shit. Judgement call all the way, after all it could be just a really nasty fart. I applaud the moderators and support them all in what they do. Agree or disagree, these guys are taking their time out from posting and enjoying things, to also help manage and keep the peace, so respect that. Remember, I'm to blame for EVERYTHING here, so target me and bring it on. -- GB |

I take offense to the title of this thread, and demand it be locked.

I am sure being a moderator is a thankless job. Let me take this time to thank the moderators for putting up with all the bull$#!t that goes on here (can I say bull$#!t here?) As far as all the flaming goes, people will pick a fight with anybody as long as they are hiding behind a computer screen, and are most likely cowards in real life. thanks.

I hate everyone and everything and need a safe anonymous place to vent. It's just more fun to pick on moderators because they tend to act against my breaking the rules. After all, it's a "public" forum right?
[:D] Keep up the good work! And don't worry about us whiners, sh*tbirds, bedwetters, and malcontents. Cheers to Ed for this site, and to all you masochists who are titled "moderator"! [8P] |

For people who are supposed to be on the same side, we sure are at each others' throats quite a bit. I'm not suggesting that we should not disagree, it just seems as though almost all debates on this forum become uncivilized remarkably quickly, where at least two people are exceedingly hostile toward one another. The moderators generally come into play after the poop has made contact with the ventilation system. In this respect it seems to me that the moderators are the least of the problem.

View Quote OMG someone sees the light! Set and Match! Listen, everyone can disagree and discuss things all they want. The moderation issues pop up once things get hostile or disrespectful. The reason being, once an intelligent discussion goes south, then the insults and anger will start flowing. But, since we're human, how likely is this scenario? We all have our own beliefs and ideals, so sooner or later something will set you off to write an insulting response without thinking of what is right or proper... -- GB |

You ask why should moderators not be allowed an opinion? That is because the handle of moderator carrys with it an air of authority. Kind of like a cop going to a gun show in uniform while off duty and talking anti gun. It give an official capacity of credibility to thier opinions which should not be there.
When on duty moderating I thing the moderators should do just that, For example I moderated this for this reason and no other. If a moderator expresses dissenting opinions on a topic and then later moderates that topic it appears to the common man as an abuse of authority. Simple answer is to use thier Member/Moderator name when doing thier job and to set up a second identity expressing opinions. Sure would be simpler if people had the spunk to use actual identities but most people don't have the wherewithall to do that and need the security of some cutesy CB handls. |
|
I think only the ones that don't play well with others, and end up getting their threads locked, are the only ones that care.
I enjoy reading everyone's opinions. Whether I agree with them or not. Sometimes, not often, but sometimes this old dog learns new tricks. |

A moderator is one of you with extra powers. They are normal users 95% of the time and when they lock threads they (99% of the time) leave a post as to WHY they did so. Thus having to own up to their actions. You seem to babble on and on and on about the horrors of moderators with little to no proof as to why you feel this way. Complaint after complaint after complaint. Disagree all you want with the moderators, they're people too, but don't bitch about your own opinions having to be forced in here. If you don't like the policies then go elsewhere. You say a cop shouldn't show up to a gun show in his uniform to discuss anti gun issues? I say bring him on. If he has something important to say then I will listen, if not, then I will walk away. It is after all a free country last I checked... -- GB |

You made my point exactly acting as a Goderator should.
You asked for opinions on something. Then when someone gave you an opinion on something instead of saying thankyou for your opinion it will be taken under advisment your response is more similar to if you don't like my opinion then why don't you just leave. Why did you ask in the first place if your opinion was the only one going to count in the final decision? |
|
I'm sorry that was your opinion? Sounded like a sermon to me... just like all your other posts today.
If you read over this thread, I NEVER asked for opinions, I asked for your support of the moderator's who bust their asses on here. You must be thinking about another thread in which you've carried your complaining into. Try to relax and enjoy yourself here and let me worry about the moderators doing their jobs or not. If you have a specific problem where you think one of them is trying to "force" their opinions or acting unjustly, then you come to me and we'll deal with it. But random insults and complaints because you don't agree with someone is just wasting my time. -- GB |

View Quote Well, thats the thing, we are not all on the same side. The ONLY thing we can all agree on is the right to own and bear arms. Other than that, we are all as different as snowflakes. Expect disagreement, expect arguments, that's what happens in GD type discussion boards. TRy another other discussion board and you will see the same thing. |

GB we need to take another look at my contract..I don't remember any naked, jello clauses in it. Unless of course there are jello bearing maidens included[:D] As for my .02¢ worth. I've stated it before and I'll state it again. I moderate threads if they cross the line set down in the conduct code or useage policy. I've locked a couple (Wet n Wild being one) that from past experience told me were going to go south in a real hurry. It was a judgement call of lock it now..or have another Mod lock it later. People can bash me all they want, e-mail me and state their case all they want or e-mail GB and complain about me all they want.Everyone here has an opinion. Sometimes I use my opinion of the direction a thread is headed to decide if it should be locked. If I post my opinion of a subject I won't moderate it unless it gets totally out of hand and no other Mods are around. This is a great site..the best firearms site online bar none. It is an honor to be part of it. There are a lot of great people here, but sometimes things get emotional and someone has to step in and cool things down. Then there are the trolls. But that is another topic. [:)] |

Goat,
I don't think i've ever had a problem with anything you locked. You seem to think with the same twisted mind that i do. I just hate seeing stuff stiffled before it gets bad. And this just restart the thread thing is BS. if a mod locks the thread once why wouldn't they just lock the new thread as soon as its opened. Thanks for letting me bitch, Mike |

Ok we'll do that once you guys type with your noses and only about AR topics. (Neither one makes sense to me!) I guess I mistook the question "What the hell kind of crap is that" as a request from the peanut gallery as to what there mindset is when they post that moderators should not be allowed an opinion I now understand that your intent was never to seek advice/opinions from others but just to chastise those who express thier opinons. I am sorry that I mistook your original post. I also have no intention of running and complaining to mommy of the site if someone calls me a poopy head. If I don't like something a moderator has done I will take it to them directly, if they did this or started something in a public forum I will keep it in a public forum not go running into e-mail land. |

It's a sad state of affairs that this forum needs any moderators.
If we could just ignore the trolls and use some constraint in what is posted we'd save GB a lot of grief. |
