I picked up a 2002 Dodge Durango for the amazing low price of $200. A friend of mine has had the thing sitting in his driveway for the last couple of years not running. He said it had a rod knocking. Being a mechanic I tend to want to fix things before replacement. I said how much do you want and he replied "for you, $200". Deal. Trailered the thing to my house, put a battery in it, and it fired right up. Definite ticking noise but not a rod knocking. Most likely culprit with that engine is a borked valve lash adjuster. With any luck I'll have it driving for about $100. Not a tier 1 vehicle but not bad for the price.
