Friends of mine worked for Oakley. They said virtually all production has shifted to China, design is still in Ca. They also said QC has gone way down and both quite (engineers) over it. I guess I need to make the USA pair they got for me last!

I've had better luck with QC from China than I have from US companies

The fuel cells I picked up about a month and a half ago say Made in USA on the inside of the earpiece.

My dad checks the label on everything he buys and has all of my life. I would say that usa made is more likely to be a little better but ive seem him buy some real garbage because the better product beside it said made in china. I dont like arbitrary things. "Made in usa" doesnt mean a damn thing. Its intangible as it relates to product quality. "This item made in xxxxx has better seams and the material appears less brittle" is a tangible thing. |

I read an article at least ten years ago that said every pair of eye glass frames no matter who the manufacturer or designer was were made by the same company over seas.

Gargoyles.
....made in Japan.....by people who generally have a sense of with about what they make. |

never understood why anyone would pay the Oakley price for Oakleys anyway.
Watched a set blow off a dumbass's face while fishing. My dad and I laughed at the stupid yuppie. Ya know...$200 sunglasses sink to the bottom of Lake Michigan just as well as $10 ones. |

I have a pair of Radars and Holbrooks, both marked made in USA. Got them in 12-13
|
|
never got into them anyway, but if the quality is the same I don't care if Chinese made them or not. Rather have them make them than a left wing union member

I have been happy with Spy sunglasses, I've had a pair of polarized Hielos for 5 years.
I think they are still made in Italy. |

went to the sporting good store to get some stuff for my son, wondered around the eyewear counter, thought about replace my old plastic Oakley's with something metal framed. Found a pair fits me pretty good and the price tag is $199, looked closely it says "China". they have few others with even higher price tags up $400 also made in China. WTF? Why would anyone pay that kinda price for a Walmart product? Oh, BTW, the pair I picked out is called "Tinfoil". http://www.oakley.com/mam/celum/celum_assets/main_OO4083-02_tinfoil_lead-black-iridium_001_60628_png_hero.jpg View Quote |

What they're asking for those Chinese sunglasses is absolutely insane.

Been partial lately to Edge Reclus SR116 7861 safety sunglasses. Fit well, work well, look decent, boss gets them for me [I'd buy them myself if he didn't]
Made in Taiwan FWIW. Chinese stuff is almost always shit, they will cut corners on anything they make if not watched carefully. |

I have 2 Jupiter's (got drunk lost one pair, ordered another one, 2 weeks later found 1st pair), they are the most comfortable sunglasses I have ever owned. I also have a pair of gascans.

Hmm my USSI Oakleys doesn't cost nearly that much. Sorry for ya bro.

Never been a fan of Oakley but it seems most glasses are made in China now.

My (presumably) Chinese Flak Jackets, two pairs actually, have held up extremely well since 2011.

I haven't bought a pair of oakley's since it was the thing to have in high school back in the early 90's. Since then I will not pay more than $20 for a pair of sun glasses.
|
|
I won't buy them again either, but that's because my 4 year old pair of polarized glasses is flaking a coating off of the lens everywhere.

Oakley is owned by Luxottica. They also own a ton of other brands.

Why do people pay $40 plus dollars for sneakers when they cost a couple of bucks to make.
Why do people pay $14 for a pair of POLO underwear when they cost pennies to make. You can apply this to some many products, and it is all about the pure stupidity on the part of the consumer which leads to pure profit for the sellers. |

I just turned my Sliver F's every which way and couldn't find a "Made in xxx" anywhere on it.
Oh well, they identify as Made in USA |

I can count on one hand the number of fiscally conservative union members I met out of around 2000 people. Oakley *is* an American company, who uses Chinese manufacturing. If you want American companies to use American manufacturing, get the leftist unions to stop choking production on their home soil. |
