I have never seen that in a METAR. I have seen volcanic ash in one, but not Funnel Cloud

There was a guy in an a/c with heavy winds and rain pounding so heavy he had no visibility outside the cockpit. He calls the Tower says "Tower, Aircraft so-and so, It's raining so heavy I am getting tossed around in the cockpit and I can't see anything outside" The Tower answers "A/C so and so, Tower, you are cleared to land on any runway, any runway" The A/C answers "Tower, I have not taken off yet"
