This general thread idea seems to be popular so I figured I'd try it here.

Wintertime house prep today.  Got into the crawlspace and cleaned the heat pump air handler condensing coil.  I always clean it after the summer cooling season is over to help ensure that the air smells good.  Heat pumps have a tendency to get musty due to the low heating temps.  Still looking for the perfect solution but a combo of foaming coil cleaner followed up with Pine Sol seems to work ok.  Left the air handler running for several hours with the windows open to air out the HVAC system.

Changed the filters (2) for the HVAC system.

Cleaned out the pellet stove and the pellet stove vent pipe.  All ready for the new heating season.

I finished the renovation of my shower today and am in the process of putting away the tools and cleaning up after the job.  It was a two month long project.  I work alone and have to learn everything as I go along.  Every project involves a lot of research.

It came out great.

Mostly a day of rest and prep.

So far this week has been : paint two bedrooms (Hang Ten Blue and Princess Pink), used carpet cleaner in family room and one bedroom, ran gas line for a dryer, trimmed some limbs, installed a bathroom exhaust fan.

All part of moving into a new house

Can add one more to the back of the house, but not sure if I need it. Already have one PTZ that cruises and covers 99%

I dug up my front yard by my water meter. A fitting broke on my side of the meter. When do they ever break on the company side?

It took a day and a half, even with renting a mini-excavator. The line was 6' down and I found out there is a huge amount of rock in my front lawn

I did have the water back on by the first night Just had to finish filling the hole back in the next morning. I didn't figure the neighbors would have appreciated me running the excavator late at night

I baked 3 cakes. Does that count?

I bought an unfinished table for my office/hobby room that I was going to work on this week, but it was delivered with serious issues (cracks and it wasn't square). So I have to postpone that until they deliver a replacement.

Ordered a Mr. Heater propane 80k btu vented shop heater.  I built a 30x40 shop building on some property of mine and have been gradually working on it for the past 2 years.  It's mostly finished but there is still some work to do.  It is VERY well insulated (especially for my area) so I tried installing a 45k btu Mr. Heater.  It worked ok but took too long to raise the temp.  This 80k btu unit should raise the temp much quicker.  The shop building stays around 45-50 degrees without heat but when I finally build the house up there and move in, I plan to keep the heat on all winter long.  I plan to keep the heat on 45 or so all winter (so it seldom runs) and then I want a heater big enough that I can kick it on and quickly bring the temp up to 60-65 for working in.

I have to install a 4 inch vent kit up from the 3 inch that I have now so don't know for certain when I'll get it installed.

Northern Tool has a pre-season heater sale going on.  Got the 80k for $575 shipped considering the sale price and a $20 coupon I found online.  Sales tax and shipping brought the price to $575.  Pretty good price for this heater.

Northern does have some good heater prices right now so if you are looking for any kind of heater, check them out.  Do a google search for "Northern Tool Coupon" and you'll find it.

Assembled a bird feeder and stuck it in the front yard over the weekend.

Went to buy some bird seed / food and was when I saw what it cost. Cheap places like the co-op, Costco and WalMart.

Should have did it back in the summer ... were probably more birds around then. There seemed to be plenty of FSA birds eating up the free food though

I did this on Monday, but it is never around long enough to dry.

I pulled the 3rd member out of the wifes hot rod to change it to lower gears and a posi.  I had a 31 spline unit to install and found the car had 28 spline axles.  That went to plan B.

Installed towing mirrors on my 2500HD, filled the trailer with water, and checked the level of the propane. Fueled up the generator, and checked the tire pressure. I don't think I'll be doing much around the house this weekend either

Last weekend, I cleaned out the gutters, processed 6 quarts of Habanero peppers, and re-seasoned an old cast iron griddle I salvaged for my table top gas grill.

Yesterday I mowed the yard and raked leaves.

Put up a sheet of attic foil. That job is going really slowly - it's still too darn hot up there to do more than 1 at a time, and we've been busy with other stuff anyways.

Yesterday and today, I painted 4 coats of polyurethane on a nice looking office work table that i bought unfinished. I need to sand it again tomorrow and put on a few more coats.

About 9 years ago, we cut off cable TV to save some dough. Things were fine with rabbit ears, if a little fuzzy, and then the digital changeover happened. Had to buy converter boxes to keep using our old TVs. Bought some new TVs too. Whatever. No snow or fuzz with digital, but any weakness with the signal resulted in unwatchable pixellation or just a blue screen. Fuck that, I wish it was still just some light snow. Many times did I yell "DIGITAL TV SUCKS" as I moved the antenna around. Digital amplified antennas helped, but at least once a day we had to wiggle the ears or shift the flat panel antenna to see certain channels. NO MORE.

Today I spent 2 grueling hours in a cramped, dusty attic installing an amplified antenna as big as a star destroyer. Ran power to it and coax cable from it and down to the back of the house. Tapped into the old cable-in feed and now all the cable jacks in the house get every available local digital channel in crystal clear hi-definition.

Fuck yeah.

Installed the garage heater that I mentioned earlier.  I was a dumbass and tried to lift it up and dropped it!  Couple minor dents but nothing serious....only injury to me was my pride!  Was looking around trying to figure out how to hang the heater when I remembered my tractor with front end loader parked in the shop.  Moved some stuff around, fired up the tractor, and lifted that heater right into place.  Worked perfectly and I feel like an idiot for not thinking of that sooner.

Installed the gas line.  Have some parts on order for the venting so once they come in, I'll connect up the venting, connect the gas to the heater, and fire it up and test it.  Should be able to get that done next week.

Didn't take pics because I forgot my camera.

After two years finally got started on my garage clean up.

Two trips to the local dump and I am finally able to move things around. Previous owners left a ton a trash in the garage. I can't complain too much since they left a new lawn mower, weed eater, leaf blower and a ton of hand tools.

I'm hoping to get the garage cleaned up and the woodworking equipment set up so I can knock out a half dozen or so thresholds, a memorial cross for the departed MIL, and then....a new gun display rack for the mancave.
