Welding isn't very hard for a very skilled person to do, but cutting fitting, measuring those metal panels justs blows me away. Then i see his work area is his garage and driveway. That guy is awesome, he can be on a few tv shows and win a few custom shows with that rig easily.

Here is what I caught.

Over 1000 man hours
Cost under $20,000 (he seemed to get a lot of materials free)
under 6000lbs
Lives in Canada
3+ years construction

Is it going to be street legal?

Did anyone see any updates or any different info?

That is just amazing!!!!  And to think, he didn't know how to weld when he started.......amazing!

Somewhere on the net I saw kits to build one on a suburban chassis ? If he built this he did a good job my hat off to him.

He could have bought and restored a surplus military Hummer for under $20K.

Saved a lot of time too.

Permanent Man Card Award !!!

If he photographed all his welds before grinding them, and has all the info the SAAQ will ask of him, he should be able to plate it.

you guys seen the Extreme 4x4 show on Spike?

Ian and Jesse(don't get me started on the hot little blonde gal who can weld and build trucks, she's dreamy) built their "suburban gorilla" on a suburban frame, I kinda rolled my eyes at the notion of it at the outset but man did they build that thing full tilt.

Banks boosted diesel in it with incredible towing capacity, looked to be just about the perfect all around brute recovery vehicle(front/rear winch setup).   God that thing gets me hot and bothered thinking about it, would love to have the truck they built.

The one on the 4x4 Extreme show was a true 1 off in terms of what they put into it.    Looking around at the Urban Gorilla site at some of the customer rides they are pretty awful looking in terms of the scale being totally screwed.

The Canadian guy did an awesome job being able to keep attention to detail, proportions, and scale.
