I made a critical mistake. I let my wife ride it last weekend.... When we hit our destination she said "Im going to need something that will keep up."

I sold her GSX-R the next day and this came home on Thursday.

I was just looking at the red 959 while my 796 was getting worked on Thursday.  The white is the better color.  Maybe I'll sneak one home later this year.

I am both jealous and estatic for you both!  Beautiful bikes, Sir!   I can't wait to get a 1000cc...I almost did, but I need to stay on a 600cc for a while.

Just finished, or should I say, half way started, my bobber build off my first bike a 2013 Suzuki M50.  It was sitting in the garage being ignored so I decided to give it a face lift.

Just picked up this 07 Dyna Super Glide

Came with bags, an ugly Mustang seat, and a chrome rack for the back.  Took all that crap off and removed some painted pinstripe from the gas tank as well.

Plan on riding it just like this until I tear it down this winter and do some upgrades.

Installed the fender eliminator tonight from NRC.

Super easy install. I read a bunch of posts about people having issues but mine went together like clockwork. Took the rear pegs off too.

Ok fellas need some advice.

About two weeks ago I sold my 2007 Daytona 675. And don't know what to do about current bike situation.

History:
I was working at the (now defunct) dealer at the time in MS and uncrated the bike myself, put on about 700+ miles at Barber, but then less than 2,000 miles in the past 3-3.5 years.
I got $6,700 for the bike ($1,500 over KBB) but included the paddock stands, Shark Skinz, and all the accessories.

In 2013 I ordered a 2012 T100 from my old dealer and got it just the way I like it: Metzler Tourances, black powdercated trim, solo seat, tracker bar, and replaced the engine chrome to black.
Problem is, between splitting time with the 675, it never got ridden very far (still only 900 on the ODO). Most of my trips were within a couple miles (down to the bars/restaurants/girls apts/etc)
It's about all that is left from my old dealer and those very fond memories.

Today:
The Bonneville rides great but if I ever could only have one bike, it would be a sport bike. I just can't stand the thought of getting rid of it. Kinda regret selling the 675.
If I had more money, I would keep it and just get a new sport bike.

The Rub, enter the challenger:
Yesterday I went and test road a 959.

Throttle response was a little lacking, I assuming (and hoping) it would be a little torque twitchy low in the rpms, but not at all. 1st gear feels taaaaall. This is certainly intentional, but just won't be as much fun beating around town.
LCD screen was very cool but pretty difficult to make out in most day light.
Clip-ons were real wide/long, just felt weird.
Front fairing/windshield housing was seriously 1/2 a helmet off the gas tank. If ZG makes a double bubble for this, that would most be remedied.

There aren't any options in the way of sliders/protection and this would be too much of a bike (for me) to trash at the track. Not that I have the time or friends to track with right now, maybe VIR.

Still: best looking bike for the money, awesome power and features for the money, and best stock sound, period.

Question: Should I wait until I can put a larger down payment on the 959 so I can keep the Bonneville and my last ties to my old shop? Or should I try and sell the Bonnie for more than it's worth (did that with the 675, sold within a week) and then take on about $2k+ in debt to finance for this new 959?

Screw that lol. I hit triple digits on my VStrom once or twice and that was enough for me. I didn't start riding until my 30's so I know how much it hurts when I hit the ground lol. There's still a part of me that wants something like that though.

I think that you need a GSA 1200.  On the roads in the DC area, you need something to eat up the bumps and potholes.

I went up and around Greenwood Lake today to take a pic for the motorcycle scavenger hunt thread.

Maybe I'll go to Seven Lakes Drive tomorrow, but I heard there's a forest fire going on causing traffic problems.

what's up Zane

Not sure how much longer I will be in DC and even then, the rides have been outside the area, to the smooth and curvy, like up around Harper's Ferry

Wife has about 950 miles on her 959 now. She loves it, coming from a GSX-R 600. Regarding the throttle, some of what you felt was undoubtedly the slop built into the throttle. There is a 30 dollar set of spaces that is a 10 minute install, and everyone who has done one says it makes a huge difference in response. 1st gear doesnt have as much torque as my BMW, but as the RPM's climb it gets there. It has a mid-range power band that you have to find, and its definitely a different riding style. It is NOT a low speed bike and I would agree it isnt as much fun in town as other bikes. The sliders are out there, but mount differently than most.

DP makes a tall screen that is easier to get behind. Im on the hunt for a slightly taller smoked screen for her, but in no rush. Upgrades abound for it, and so far it hasnt dissapointed.

1. already looked in my area, none to be found. plus price of used bikes around DC is way high (remember how I sold 675 for $1,700 above KBB?)
2. considered a left-over new model, but with effectively zero price difference, what's the point

The dealer has a white 15 899 as well, and the last time I spoke with him he was running a 1k incentive towards parts or gear for it.
