I have got my friends CBR600 up to 155mph.  On my brothers bike, 135mph (ninja zx6).
Just wondering what everyone else has done either in a car or on a bike.

Just remember we do not condone illegal activities on the board. So hypothetically you drove that fast, right.....................Bigscrun

I drove a P3-C Orion sub hunter at 325 knots

I also once drove a 16 penny nail with a 28oz Estwing framing hammer, 1 swing, into yellow pine.  I estimate the speed of the nail at 635mph.

Porsche 928 - 135mph.  I thought that was a bit terrifying until I sat in the same car as a passenger going about the same speed.  That sucked

I had a V65 I used to open up. I don't know what the top end was.
I also rode in a souped up GTO once. just once.

I once had my WS.6 up to 140 or so. It started getting real floaty with the stock suspension though

95   mph in a 1997 Ford Explorer
86   mph in a 1993 Toyota Corolla
100 mph in a F-250 (was the passenger[couldve sworn i saw a 1/4 of his tank go dry])
120 mph in a Mercedes Benz CLK 230

truthfully hitting 95 in my ford was fucking scary since the 97 is the rollover edition of ford suvs and i didnt even notice the speedup with the Benz

I hit an even 100 in my 73 Firebird.  Very close to being a big mistake.  There was absolutely no road feel at all.  Almost felt like the tires weren't touching the road.  Lesson learned:  it ain't just the engine that allows for high speeds.  Ya gotta have a sound suspension, too.

The Porsche, I mentioned above, felt no different that driving the speed limit.  Rock solid.

I've actually had my little Nissan SER up to about 130. Not bad for a 4 banger and it still had another 10-15mph in it.

in the early 90's, a 300Z twin turbo at 155mph.  It was electronically governed for that speed so I couldn't go any faster. (hypothetically)

102 in the fully loaded 87 4Runner (downhill of course!)
96 in the old rally car ( if you've done stage rally, you'll understand the pucker factor)
122 in my Dad's old Vette. So far, that's the fastest...

drive safe!

02 Suzuki Hyabusa one time.......188 on the speedo.  After I slowed to 150 it felt like I was doing 45.  My 02 Gixxer 750 does about 172 on the speedo.  Both are smooth, very smooth rides.  I prefer the 750.

edit: these are at sea level of course.  Now that I'm in CO 750 lost a shit load of HP.

140 mph....My honda CBR 600F2 on a closed airport runway where I worked. It was scary.

120 mph....My Jetta GLI. It had very lightweight alloy wheels and a ground effects kit...otherwise it prolly would not have gone that fast. I was on an interstate playing follow the leader w/ a hopped-up Honda.

All of these 'feats' were accomplished in my 20's. I have not driven that fast since.

buried the speedo in a highly modified mustang i had.  read to 140 but needle pegged at 155 i think.

got up to 170-172 mph on my various r1's.  this was digital speedo reading so it was a little less i would imagine.

buried the speedo on my turbocharged hayabusa.  speedo went to 185 and it was still accelerating very very fast.  gotta love 280 hp with about 450 lb motorcycle...lol

I personally haven't driven more than 85 (I think), but my girlfriend's dad took me for a ride once on his Harley (fully modified, I think there are maybe two things other than the frame on it that are stock...he owns a dyno machine) and accelerated to something like 105 from 50. It was crazy, being used to cars I was amazed at the acceleration it had while it was already going that speed. He then showed me a mostly stock Harley, and it seemed like nothing.

I haven't been that dumb in my driving yet.

An old Yamaha XS750 and a 95 pontiac firebird both up to 135mph. It really wasn't that bad for either one but I am too old to do something like that now.

If I ever get something newer (i.e. faster) I might do something dumb(er) so I'm just glad I'm a poor college kid for now.

115 in a Nissan 200SX. I didn't realize I was going that fast. Cop caught me at the off-ramp, only clocked me doing 82  and let me off with a warning. This was about 2 AM, and I didn't see another car on the road for the entire hour drive (I-64 east of Lexington.)

My son's CBR929.....154mph and that was only because I happened to look down and see the speedo and thought "WTF am I doing?"
Wish I had the guts and opportunity to see just how fast it would go.  I have no doubt it's a 200mph plus toy.

Fastest:

135mph in a 1991 Toyota MR2 Turbo. Sold it 2 years later with 70k miles and on its third Turbo. Learned my lesson buying the first year production of a new vehicle, but of the all the cars I have owned it was the most fun.

Currently own:

1998 Toyota 4cylinder Camry - Daily commuter car.
2004 Toyota Sequoia - Family hauler and weekend vehicle.

Managed to get both up around 105mph.

Looking at buying a fun/sports car next year.

155-ish MPH in my old Lancer Evolution when it was stock.  Electronically limited to 155 MPH, needle showed 154 when it stopped giving power to the wheels.  It was pulling hard as hell up until that point.  I was racing against a 2003 Mustang GT with Flowmasters, 3.73 gears, intake, headers, a "racing chip" (whatever the hell that garbage is) and a couple of other things that I can't remember.  He got the jump on me from a dig, but by 130 MPH I could see him in both of my side mirrors.

I've driven around this speed in various other cars (Mustang notchback 5 liters, Camaro SS's, Corvettes, 300ZX's, Supras, etc.) but the Evo was the only car that actually had a really good handling characteristics.  I was able to switch lanes 3 or 4 times while driving that fast (don't ask why I had to).

125-130 in my shadow, and probably about the same in the omni. It was not scary at all in either car. The shadow was actually great at that speed, and I stayed there for some time. Although the wipers did lift off of the windshield.

135MPH '79 chevy Monza. 305 V8 cast intake, cast ex ,Q-jet carb, with some seriously ported heads and mild cam.  Iwas followed by a friend on his Katana, my speedo only went to 100. Still have it but it needs redone from the ground up again. Have a 75 Monza I want to get 150 out of with a H.O. 305. Still gathering engine parts right now. If I had a dollar for every time I went over 100 in the 79 I could pay for the rebuild.
