I've been looking into Quicken and YNAB ( http://www.youneedabudget.com/ ) a bit.  Has anyone used these, or have any other suggestions?

I 2nd this, it's free and just takes a little time to set it up.  The more effort you put in to setting it up the more it can help.

I just use excel too.  I tried Mint a while ago but it always got all the categories wrong and was a total mess

I started an account on Mint.com.  Thanks for the info everyone!  I hadn't heard of Mint previously.

Anyway, Mint seems pretty good.  I'll keep tinkering with it and see how it does for me.  I have a couple basic things over in Excel too, but I've tried using Excel before (I know it CAN and WILL work), and I've always lost interest in it.  The automatic data gathering and charts of Mint are more my style.  I guess Excel isn't 'sexy' enough to keep my interest.
