Last home gym pic thread got deleted after several good pages of posts. Nice to have a place to post pics, ask questions, review, and make recommendations about home gym equipment

Figured I’d restart it as I had to move thanks to divorce and changed my arrangement a bit.

This was my gym before, had a huge garage with tons of space to play with.

Now, I had to rearrange things to fit it all in a one car garage while still having room in it to store my crap.

Planning on making a couple of changes. First, going to add three more 4x6 mats to increase the total area. Second, I had way too many barbells and now the much shorter garage headroom makes it difficult to store so many of them -- literally almost punch a hole in the ceiling every time I go to hang them up. Going to put pretty much all but my curl bar on the local market place and replace them with a 20kg Ohio power bar and just keep it on the J hooks when I'm done with it.

Anyways, let’s see where you home gym guys are lifting in this new year!

where is the best place to buy cable pull attachments?

The lat/ Row attachment for my PR5000 showed up last week and showed up with 2 basic cheap bars....

Looking for specifically a long rope to  do face pulls with

I didn't purchase my ropes, they were included with my FT and plate loaded lat pull, so I can't help you there.

But before finding my Mag grip set. I was looking real close at these knockoff Prime set https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001743098921.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.18ff4c4dOs9mKp

I bought this one from valor fitness it's rock solid.

I used it to do face pulls today actually.

After much lusting in this thread, I've finally pulled the trigger on a setup at home. T-3 shorty and a bench from rep are scheduled for delivery this week, picked up a used set of plates and a bar yesterday, I'm pumped to get this set up

Thanks @LTcetme for turning me onto this link.  There are some great setups in here!

Here is my humble setup.  One of these days I'll build a platform.

Just about bought a chalk bowl stand when this idea popped into my head.

I need to get a real chalk bowl. Currently I'm using an old Tupperware and it's messy. But I do love a chalky gym.

Finally got my floor mats in so it's pretty much complete now ignore the ugly garage...its a work in progress.

Loving it so far! My biggest complaint with the rack is the lack of numbering, but I'm just going to make some labels for easy adjustments.

Stall mats? What kind? I want to pick some up, but have been lazy about it. I just have cheap foam pad squares, double up and set out for DLs and rows. Works fine, but they move around and the plates also roll around more than I'd like.

My rack doesn't have markings, either. I just put little strips of masking tape on the uprights to mark my spots.

To mark my rack I found out the right placement for Everything and I used a “White out Tape” to mark it on the rack.

I got them from American Floor Mats. I tried to go the stall mat route but none of the farm stores around me had any in stock and wouldn't ship them, or they were more expensive.

No complaints with these so far, it took them a little while to ship but the quality is pretty good and the price wasn't bad either.

The rack numbering is definitely just a convenience, I'll be marking or taping them up soon just to be able to quickly move crap around.

So I finally finished my shed gym expansion. I moved all my tools and storage into a second building and expanded the gym into that space. You'll notice some redundancy in racks; my workouts are usually time constrained so I'm trying to cut down on as much reconfiguring as possible. I also like to do super and giant sets so being able to setup multiple lifts at the same time is something I wanted to improve on.

If there's a Tractor Supply or Blaine's Farm & Fleet anywhere near you, they have the lowest prices for horse stall mats I've found. Literally 1/3 - 1/4 the price for the same thing on the big river site.

Hint:
A 4' x 6' x 3/4" mat weighs ~100lbs (which means shipping costs a ton).
Easiest way I've found to carry them is to lay a ratchet strap on the ground, roll the mat up on the ratchet strap, then tighten the ratchet strap to keep it rolled up when you pick up the roll. To make it even easier/more secure, you can use more ratchet straps (eg. top and bottom, or middle to start + top&bottom 1/4).

Before doing the ratchet strap roll, maneuvering with an unrolled 4x6 mat is a PITA. Trying to bear hug a rolled up mat and walk it from the truck, down into my basement was also a PITA, as each slight movement resulted in the mat trying to unroll itself, making it progressively more of a PITA.

Sorry to hear about your Father!

That setup is looking pretty dang good though! You made a lot of progress and work on that garage to turn it into what it is today! My wife used to just like tossing everything into the garage If she didn’t want to put it away, or if she wanted to keep it for some reason instead of throwing it out. Our house is lacking in the way places for storage. Most of what I had to do was primarily just organizing a bunch of different totes/boxes into one single boxes clearing up more space than it was taking up. Put up a couple shelving units and ceiling storage on the opposite side of where I have my setup. So I know the effort it takes to go through and get rid of years worth of stuff in order to have a proper space to workout.

Again, love the setup!

I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s a generic pattern that many use, but I’ve been to their factory in Illinois.

Anyone ask for things for their Home Gym for Christmas? What accessories did you guys ask for?

My parents and my wife’s parents asked what I wanted for Christmas. I asked for a “Bench Blockz” Block, a neutral grip Close grip Mag Attachment to go with my others, and a couple more stall mats. We’ll see what I get.

Kind of wishing I kept my other rack when I picked up the new one.  I've thought of uses for myself but mostly because the kids want to work out occasionally at the same time I do.  Could also turn that workout time into bonding time.

Those color fleck Vulcans are beautiful plates. I just bought four more Rogue HG2 45s. Much less attractive appearance but I like my stuff to match and I started on the rogue HG path and that's my Destiny I suppose.

One of the first things I want to do is upgrade the bar. It's a screw on 1" I'll stick with 1" but want a smooth bar and locking collars. The screw on thing sucks. Also the inside plates are old concrete filled vinyl things one of my neighbors had, great and the got me where I am, but I could fit 50lbs in the same place.

I also want to get some bands for lat pull downs, but I might just put a pulley on the ceiling.

Ideally I want the bench/squat rack replaced with a cage.

I’ve made a lot of changes since last posting a gym pic.

Had about 6 months where I couldn’t really workout due to knee injury and shoulder injury/surgery. So, among other things, I upgraded a bunch of stuff.

Replaced the half rack folder with an RM6 with Slinger. Added an LP2 and a used leg press. Some other odds and ends.

Mat space has grown to 600 sq/ft.

One of my favorite changes was the dip attachment. I had a PRx (basically same as Rogue Matador) but it used a 3/4 inch pin to mount. The RM6 is 1inch holes.
I came across the Mutant Metals Ultimate Dip Attachment on Instagram. Absolutely love it. The old attachment was a pain to attach/detach while the MM has a built in pin. Even with chalk the fat handles on the old one would get slippery, the MM has really nice knurling and 1-3/8 in diameter handles . It also has multiple handle mounting positions. Not cheap (~$400 W/shipping) but highly recommended.

So they sell a version of that dip bar for the Monster Lite racks? I really like that.

Ha - not a chance. One of the things I like about a home gym is not having to wait on equipment.

They also do 5/8 and 3/4 inch pins but they aren’t integrated. So it would mount like a Matador.
