(Geneseo, IL) What do you do with the best high-powered competition and tactical rifle in the world? At ArmaLite, you make it even better.

ArmaLite proudly introduces the AR-50A1 National Match at the 2011 SHOT Show in Las Vegas. Please come see our new rifle at Booth 12564.

The AR-50A1 National Match is similar to our standard AR-50A1 with some VERY important differences. The AR-50A1 NM is produced from selected components: The National Match’s 33 inch barrel is three inches longer than the standard AR-50A1’s barrel. The barrel has eight flutes. The flutes help with cooling and reduce unnecessary weight while maintaining accuracy-enhancing stiffness. The barrel has a 50 BMG Match chamber instead of a standard military chamber.

The result: sub MOA accuracy. We weren’t kidding when we told you we’ve made the best even better.

ArmaLite has also developed a "Skid System” for the AR-50A1 National Match. It’s meant for serious match use and comes standard, NOT as an expensive add-on. The ArmaLite Skid System provides parallel rests on the rifle that are parallel with the bore of the rifle so when it recoils it will recoil straight back. This has been requested by match shooters, some of whom have made their own. The front skid attaches to the slot in the forestock similar to the way bipod rails are attached. The rear skid attaches to the buttstock. Armalite developed the Skid System without modification to the AR-50A1’s original parts so the system can be used by shooters who already own an AR-50A1 and want to use their original stock with NO MODIFICATIONS.

Looking for more reasons the AR-50A1 NM achieves sub-MOA accuracy? Here they are:

The heart of the rifle is its metallic stock-to-action interface. The patented V-Lock™ Bedding Wedge and V-Block Stock assure absolute strength and repeatability for superb accuracy. The aluminum stock reinforces the receiver like a bench-rest sleeve.

It’s not just the bedding that improves accuracy. Independent testing has proven the AR-50A1 muzzle brake to be the best in the industry for both recoil control and accuracy. It scrapes away turbulent muzzle gasses and lets the bullet break into clean air for amazing accuracy.

AR Stands For ArmaLite: Accept No Substitutes.

Go to this website and compare the price of the standard AR50 versus the mag fed .50 BMG rifles.

http://www.50bmgstore.com/50bmgcurrentprices.htm

If they make it mag fed, the price would increase to around the same area as those.

For that much price difference, I will feed it manually.

Hell, compare the price to some of the other single shot, bolt action .50 BMG rifles.

I wonder how long you can sling that 33lb rifle before you start to cry?

Another thing...

This rifle better be .5 MOA capable. If I have a round capable of killing past 2000 yards I want to be able to get a first round hit.

That's a great question.  I was watching a show about snipers on History last night.  It took a British sniper 3 shots before he hit his target using a MacMillan Tac 50.

Those guys can shoot better than the vast majority on here, so "first round hit" is not a given with any .50 cal at the ranges they can shoot, that's for damn sure.

Are you serious.....

You answered your first question with your third question......
"National Match" is a term used to describe a higher standard of manufacturing and components which will meet the standards set for use in a sanctioned National Match....I think I got that right....

"National Match" refers to a standard set forth by the US Army for "match" firearms accurized for use in the US National Matches.   Since there was no Match standard set for it, there isn't even really a "National Match" AR-15.  What's more, there is no National Trophy Match that uses the .50.  In fact, .50 is illegal for use in the National Matches and so is any rifle with a brake.

I don't like seeing terms watered down so much they become meaningless.  What's next?  National Match Kleenex?  You're welcome to your own rope.

That is interesting.....considering I know of a few that compete nationally in 50 cal matches....I will get back to you as soon as I hear from them...being I don't compete with the 50 I can not verify any competitions....but I will....

Those .50 matches are not National Matches.  The "National Matches" are the Trophy and NRA Highpower/Long Range Matches.  This rifle is illegal in any of those competitions.  Words mean things.  A National Match rifle is a rifle built to a specific standard established by the National Match program that was operated by Springfield Armory.  Just stating the rifle is "more accurate" doesn't make it a National Match rifle.  Just stating that it is used in some sort of national competition doesn't either.... and - just in case I wasn't clear before - you can stuff your "get a rope" comment.

Alright....if there is no National Matches for the 50cal...then explain the FCSA....which is recognized by the NRA and holds several matches with this one being the one were the World class tournament is held... link

and just to add a bit of new...granted it was from 2009.....

Lee Rasmussen set a new .50 BMG Single Target World Record at the FCSA 2009 World Championships held at the NRA Whittington Center in Raton, NM this 4th of July by shooting a 1.955" 5-shot group in the Heavy Gun Class 1000yd record competition and by doing so breaks the late Skip Talbot’s 2.600" long standing single-group record set in 1999 by over 1/2". Lee’s group works out to .1868 MOA.

I have also been informed about other matches sanctioned by the NRA..and I believe one is held at Camp Perry.......
From what I have discovered...there is not as many for the 50 and yes in standard matches they are illegal...but in the Heavy gun class which is gaining popularity as is the 50.
Thus I think that "there are no National Matches" for the 50 cal BMG is incorrect...
and as for stuffing my rope comment...what no humor....and besides...I tried it once....it got stuck....
I will post more on this when I get it ....

Again, those aren't the National Matches.   I could hold a spitball competition in a national venue and it wouldn't be either.

Which is incorrect.  There is no "Heavy Gun" class in the NRA Highpower rulebook that governs the NRA Championship nor is there anything remotely like that in CMP's.

That doesn't mean there aren't .50 matches, they just aren't National Matches.   IDPA and the like aren't "National Matches", either.  This is just Eagle Arm's marketing department making things up out of whole cloth because they think it sounds cool.

Well after deliberating on this...all  I can say that there is National Matches for the 50cal and some are NRA recognized, I was incorrect as there are more than I first found...
So for you reading this thread...there are competitions out there and don't be fooled by One persons opinion....as we all have them, like other things....
but to another point...

As i have a AR-50 A1 B in my possession and find it to be a most superb weapon, very well built and alot of fun to shoot, from what I can see of the AR-50 "NATIONAL MATCH", the Match Grade improvements and the superior innovations made into it will take it far beyond the standard AR-50....If I had the money I would order one, and be the first on my little part of the world to have it...I truly look forward to seeing it in action and reading and hearing more on the performance of this new 50 Cal. BMG from ArmaLite.
I also want to add....There is no class for the ArmaLite AR-50 A1 B and the "NATIONAL MATCH" Because the AR-50s are in a Class unto themselves.....with no equal.
As those who know....shoot an ArmaLite......

and lastly now for you....

I'm a competitor in the US National Matches every year.  That's all the expertise necessary.  You don't even know what they ARE.  LOL.

The "National Matches" are a set of specific events.  None of which use or allow anything in .50.  The last actual "National Match" rifle standard was the M14.

It's just marketing BS.  I've seen Norinco MAK-90s marked "National Match".  Just as silly.  I'm not saying this isn't an accurate rifle.  It's just not and can't be a "National Match" rifle.  Armalite
can call it whatever it wants to, but nothing changes that.

For me, probably an AR10 in NRA Service Rifle configuration (M110 with irons) for NRA Long Range.  1000 yard loads are a bit hard on the M14.  Armalite runs pretty decent sales at Camp Perry every year.

I really want a .50, but two things get in the way.  The lesser is having the money for it.  The money's there, but spending it on a rifle really isn't.  The reason?  The Minister of Finances (wife) won't allow the money to be budgeted.  She's always right in saying there's a better place for the money.
