THis is the first I've heard of it. I saw it on the shelf at Cabela's.
Hornady Match
7.62x54r
150 gr SST
Vintage Match
#8049
I bought 60 rounds of the stuff at about $1 a round. Can't wait for it to get a little warmer outside. I want to try it in my PSL.

Oh man that looks like it would leave a NASTY wound

What does the headstamp look like?
and yes, 54R is a round screaming for a modern, performance load. I hope Hornady delivers on the potential.

What does the bullet mic at? Is it .308 or .311?

I lent somebody my calipers and he hasn't given them back.

My guess is Hornady is using the same 150gr SST bullet they use in the .308

That's my guess. Might not be an issue with a new PSL but a MN slugging at .311 or .312 would suck for accuracy.

For $1 a pop I would expect brass cased ammo like the Winchester Metric stuff.
Has anybody shot the Silver Bear "match" 7.62x54?

Apparently Hornady does make it with a brass case.

If Hornady already makes a .311 150 gr SST, then I think it's probable that that is what they are using in the 7.62x54r cartridge.
