I was watching Game of Thrones tonight, but previous to that I was watching a recorded Live PD from Saturday night.
And I was thinking, who is the audience for Game of Thrones? It isn't necessarily the same folks who watched The Sopranos, and I really don't think it was your typical suspect as seen on Live PD. So who is it then - folks who enjoyed Lord of the Rings? Sophisticated Millenials? |

Never watched it and have no interest in it.
Gunsmoke is more my flavor and I am 35. |

Considering it is immensely popular I would say it has a pretty broad reach.

Seems to have wide cross-demographic appeal. Action, suspense, drama, eye candy, whatever. Lots of people from different age groups and backgrounds enjoy it.
I've actually never watched it, I read the first book though. It's a pretty popular subject at work, though. |

I spoke with a 70 year old man today who said his kids got him hooked on it.

I'm the audience apparently. It might be my favorite show ever.

I love lotr and I can't get through the first book or episode of got.
That's not my 2edgy opinion, just think it's boring. |

Are people trying to convince themselves that they’re special or cool for not watching GoT?

Great books and great show. All the adults in my familey watch.

I like it.
Never paid for it though. Kids watch it on redbox. (They're in their 20's) |
|
[#17]
I'd watch it but it doesn't come in on the 4 free broadband channels I receive.

My wife and I are in our 50s. We watch it every Sunday night with some friends in their 30s.

I watched 4.5 seasons in a week 2 years ago then never watched it again.
Just didn't do it for me. |

Yeah...it's typical arfcom fashion. My favorite is when some starts a thread about person xyz and the first 2 pages is nothing but "who?" replies. View Quote |

People that likes drama and uncertainty, same kill off rate as trump caninet?

[#26]
I've been watching since the first episode, and went and read all the books because of it.

[#27]
I watch it, everyone I know watches it, my girlfriend thinks it's fucking stupid.
|

I'm 65 and love it. My 30 year old daughter got me hooked the first season and we both read all the current books. We also loved Lord of the Rings trilogy, but neither of us could get into those books. Audience is all ages, you either get invested in the characters or you don't.

I love it, but I also love Harry Potter... so what do I know.
|
|
[#30]
I've been watching it since the 1st episode... my other half was never interested in it but watched the last 2 episodes with me... she now finished season one... she stared watching it saturday afternoon(yesterday)

I've watched it all on YouTube, one rewind at a time.
Obviously, it's targeted toward the woman's lib demographic. They already know the LOTR fans are gonna watch it. |

For a few decades, I was of the notion that watching anything other than athletic events was a waste of time.
The Walking Dead sucked me in during a weeks downtime between jobs, from there Rome became a thing, then Boardwalk Empire and finally GOT. Oh, Narcos was superb also. |
|
[#35]
I am the target audience apparently.
It had me at tits. Plus the story is fun after reading the books. My wife hates it, to much gore, they show tits, etc. |

Well I'm seeing numbers of 25 million views per episode. In addition the season 7 premiere was illegally downloaded 90 million times in just three days.
So probably everyone. |

I think more women than men watch it. All the girls I know watch it. Only a few guys I know watch it. I've watched the first season because someone gave me the Bluerays for a gift. It was a decent show, but the episodes were long, who has time for that, ha. And not being on Netflix is a big negative for me. I don't watch regular tv, don't have cable either.

I like it. My dad even likes it and he doesn't like anything. Shit, I don't know anyone who's seen it that doesn't like it.

I don't watch it myself, never have, but the people I see posting about it on Facebook are primarily the same people who used to post about Sons of Anarchy. I didn't watch that show either, so I can't fairly say how related they are. I mostly post about actual activities on FB, like going outside and stuff.
