Best of luck, but I am sure once the move is done, and you start settling in you will be so happy in your new environment.
It really is surreal for a long time...I have been in Texas for good for 4 months now, and it's still surreal.
I basically lived in NY for most of my life...born in Elmira, lived in Big Flats, dad worked for Corning...was there for the flood of 72...moved when I was I first grade to PA, but moved back in 9th grade...stayed for almost 30 more years, 26 in Buffalo.
It was hard in some respects to move, but in the long run, it was the best leap of faith ever. Looking back at NY from the outside, and watching what has been happening here, I am so glad to be out.
NY is well and truly fucked. I had hopes Cumhole would be per walked, but he ain't going no where...the fix is in, and Preet either got scared off or bought off, cause that slimy fucker is guilty of something....
I pay no state income tax in TX....property taxes are half, and I live in a relatively high taxed area for Texas. I go to gunshows...1200 to 2000 tables being typical. There are literally gunshows almost every weekend in the DFW area. You can buy ANYTHING there..."AW's", standard cap mags as far as the eye can see, FA, cans...anything.
I buy a pistol at show, or shop...do a nics check, and walk away with it. No permits necessary...CHL's are virtually shall issue.
I will never speak I'll of those who decide/must stay. Not everyone is lucky enough to be in the position to move. I got very lucky, my company paid full boat for the move, which was EXPENSIVE, paid for a rental truck so I could haul my guns and other stuff, paid for all expenses, and gave me a stiff raise. It was a perfect storm, and I jumped at the chance.
It is my hope that all the good people in NY could literally move out, and leave the state to the scumbag politicians, and the scumbag FSA, and scumbag liberals....I'd love to see the state collapse into a black hole of debt and misery...
But it won't happen, I will be happy in my good fortune, and enjoy every day of living in relative freedom compared to NYS.
So, congrats, and enjoy your new life. Make sure to let all the brothers left behind how good it feels, maybe some more will take that leap...
