I'm much more a lurker here than a poster but I still check the forum everyday.  I met a few people here at the rallies in Albany and shot with some of you.  Heck one of the home town members graciously let me shoot on his land.

I guess I'm just posting hoping to inspire more people to leave this dying state and vent.  I accepted a job in Maine last week for less money in a new industry.  I am hunting for housing this coming weekend in Maine.  I've delayed it for years hoping maybe things would get better.  I've accepted the inevitable it's a lost cause.

So FUAC but congrats you succeeded in driving me, my wife and daughters out of NY and away from our families.  I'll be taking my good paying salary and tax dollars with me.  You said conservatives have no place in NY so adios.  I'm sure the NY is open for business commercials will find a suitable replacement for me.

I hope everyone else on here gets out.  I never thought I would.  I'll miss the family but I can drive back in 4 hours if I have to visit.  The feeling knowing this corrupt piece of shit state will no longer gain income from me is priceless.  As the famous quote goes 20 years from now you will be more disappointed by the decisions you didn't make then the ones you did.  And I doubt I'm going to regret leaving NY.

Best of luck everyone hope you all can get paroled err leave NY too.

Best of luck, but I am sure once the move is done, and you start settling in you will be so happy in your new environment.

It really is surreal for a long time...I have been in Texas for good for 4 months now, and it's still surreal.

I basically lived in NY for most of my life...born in Elmira, lived in Big Flats, dad worked for Corning...was there for the flood of 72...moved when I was I first grade to PA, but moved back in 9th grade...stayed for almost 30 more years, 26 in Buffalo.

It was hard in some respects to move, but in the long run, it was the best leap of faith ever. Looking back at NY from the outside, and watching what has been happening here, I am so glad to be out.

NY is well and truly fucked. I had hopes Cumhole would be per walked, but he ain't going no where...the fix is in, and Preet either got scared off or bought off, cause that slimy fucker is guilty of something....

I pay no state income tax in TX....property taxes are half, and I live in a relatively high taxed area for Texas. I go to gunshows...1200 to 2000 tables being typical. There are literally gunshows almost every weekend in the DFW area. You can buy ANYTHING there..."AW's", standard cap mags as far as the eye can see, FA, cans...anything.

I buy a pistol at show, or shop...do a nics  check, and walk away with it. No permits necessary...CHL's are virtually shall issue.

I will never speak I'll of those who decide/must stay. Not everyone is lucky enough to be in the position to move. I got very lucky, my company paid full boat for the move, which was EXPENSIVE, paid for a rental truck so I could haul my guns and other stuff, paid for all expenses, and gave me a stiff raise. It was a perfect storm, and I jumped at the chance.

It is my hope that all the good people in NY could literally move out, and leave the state to the scumbag politicians, and the scumbag FSA, and scumbag liberals....I'd love to see the state collapse into a black hole of debt and misery...

But it won't happen, I will be happy in my good fortune, and enjoy every day of living in relative freedom compared to NYS.

So, congrats, and enjoy your new life. Make sure to let all the brothers left behind how good it feels, maybe some more will take that leap...

Good luck dude, wish you the best.  Don't forget to vote conservative in Maine!

I'm so taken back by how everyone talks shit about NY and get all their stuff and family together to leave but when the time comes to vote for a change, they can't get off their asses and go to the booth.  Same goes for protests and rallies.  Every group that wants something gets it because they rally and protest.  We can't be bothered because we believe it's owed to us and we should have it coming.  Guess what fellas, freedom isn't free and NY is a prime example. You  snooze, you loose.

Think about it, if all the votes that leave/left since the last governor election actually voted, the big bad boogie monster in Albany would have been no more.

I think for the most part you're dead wrong.  The folks that have the gumption to pull stakes and move have been voting against the crap.   Now for the guys that will sit with dirty drawers and complain, you're probably correct in many instances.  Many feel bound to stay for family or due to a career track that doesn't allow them to retire or retire early.  Owning a family business here could very well be the largest boat anchor that I can imagine.  Second to that is the guys that could never get their wives to move from NY due to proximity to kids and grand kids.  For a few fortunate souls I know that retired, their kids were smart and moved out of NY for work and the parents followed them.

My plan is to get my time in at work and skip the state with my retirement and live higher on the hog somewhere else.   I vote for the better candidates.  I bitch about our failures.  Still even if we win and get all we wanted as far as our firearms rights restored and respected we're still extremely over taxed.   Our cost of living and taxes is costly to generating wealth for your family's well being.   Your kids will have less than they could somewhere else because you must pay for the kids of those that are scamming the system.  We're on the path to Detroit whether we like it or not.   I wish it were not so but that's the way I see it.

I have been voting against this bullshit for years.  Hasn't helped one bit.  You can't piss out a forest fire, I don't care how much beer you drink.

Guys, I know all of us are doing our part.  I can't be dead wrong, because if that were true, every other state would have this problem.  We simply do not vote in numbers, period.  The last governors election was an embarrassment.  Some counties upstate and in west NY barely broke 1000 votes!!  If we continue to keep quiet, the left will have a field day or should I say field century in NY's case.

Listen, I'm not trying to shit in anyone's parade, just trying to  bringing some stuff to light.  We need to move and get people registered and out to vote.  It's a lot easier that packing and leaving.  This is as much our state as the fuckers who want to make it a socialist utopia.  Time to beat the drums, the governors election is right around the corner.

Sadly, this....you can only beat your head against a brick wall before you realize all you end up with is a sore head....

NY is broke. The welfare leeches and FSA added to the plain ol' dumb ass liberal twats simply outnumber and outvote everyone else.

Add to that fact that apparently many gun owners are either fudds, or just plain old too stupid/lazy/ignorant to be bothered to get out and vote, leaving is (sadly) the only viable alternative if you want to escape the yoke of oppression......

.............This is 100% correct

Moving isn't quitting........It's a tactical retreat........a feint........to suck the enemy into your reconsolidation line  where you can win, and win in numbers.........The way I see it is eventually the tards at the federal level are going to keep pushing........Are best hope is to have overwhelming numbers of conservatives in States that we can win electoral votes, and control more votes in the house to keep libtards in check Federally.   NY is lost........until it goes bankrupt and falls under Federal control, someday NY State will be the showcase of the absolute failure of the progressive liberals socialist agenda for the rest of the country to ponder at when socialists like Bernie and Hitlery start to run their suckhole about what is good for us.

Good luck to you! I'm envious!

My punch out location has been secured, and I visit often but for now......I remain trapped behind enemy lines. I've got a ways to go before I can exit this state for good, but I'm chomping at the bit to do so.

Congrats on your move. That "down home America" feeling has left NY long ago, and my girl and I are planning to reconnect with it in about a year. She's a nurse and I am a newly certified HVAC/R tech that just needs a bit more field experience to help securing a position elsewhere.

Good luck and looking forward to the bragging.

I love these threads! Starve the beast of Albany

Good luck to you in Maine OP!

98k, glad to hear life in free America is to your liking :-)

With the way the heavy construction industry has slowed down up here it looks like I'll be out of here sooner than I thought

Congrats OP. I made the same decision two years ago. My wife and I had enough and one day made the decision to make our exit sooner rather than later. A year later we were living in Maine. We both sacrificed a lot and miss our friends and family dearly. I can without a doubt tell you that I am MUCH safer, happier and enjoy my newfound freedom everyday. Welcome to Maine

A guy I run into in one of the local stores has been trying to get his company to transfer him out of state for months now.
I stopped in on patrol last night and he was practically jumping for joy telling me that he found a position in Wyoming.
He's already selling off the stuff he doesn't want to haul across the country

Thanks for the well wishes.  I'm really looking forward to constitutional carry since I'm in Albany County and know I'd never get approved for a pistol permit.  That will be the first purchase in Maine.

Best of luck OP.  Maine is a beautiful state with many natural resource similarities to NY.  Met many, many ex-NYers that were very happy with their new home on several trips up there.  Fresh lobster off the boat ain't nothing to sneeze at either......

Got seven years left of my sentence.......just have to decide where to hang my hat......and gun safes.

Will continue the good fight until I leave my family's home state for greener pastures.  But it truly is a lost cause unfortunately, even if every gun owner, Hunter, "fudd" and Liberty minded individual could be united behind principled candidates it is not enough any more here.  The numbers do not lie, and we just don't have enough.  As others have posted, it's not just the gun laws, it's the big Progressive machine......taxes, over regulation, graft, corruption, lack of opportunity.  It will take decades to overcome, and that's if you have the numbers.....

Until then, the fight rages on.....
