Term limits. You look at the worst of the worst the NY Legislature has to offer and it's all a bunch of career politicians on the take, starting with Sheldon Silver.

RECALL ELECTIONS!
Look at what happened in Co. they passed anti Liberty/Constitution/2a laws and they held a recall election and gave the fucking boot to those traitors!
We need the ability to keep them in check. If we had recall elections they would be much more timid in their approach to passing laws that touched on Constitutional issues.
Also, without any shadow of a doubt we need term limits.. no more feinsteins, schumers, silvers, etc.... how in the freaking world do we not have term limits for legislators!? how can these people make a career out of being a legislator, it was not designed to be that way, but they control the media, and they control the sheeple.
campaign finance is another thing we need. I dont claim to have all the answers, but what if there was a financial cap that limited how much campaign money someone is allowed to have. once that cap is reached, thats it! we cant have people like cumhole having 35 million in his "war chest" because people are paying for him to stay in office... that really hurts the process, and the intent of fair elections. its very difficult to compete with that when your in a blue state like NY. Astorino doesnt have nearly enough, so how is that fair? if everyone had a cap of say, 10 million, or 8 million... whatever... at least it can be fair so they have the same chance to use that money to campaign and reach the people..
then, on top of campaign money, you get the incumbent using his position to virtually campaign for himself like this bullshit "start up NY" program... this is campaigning using our tax dollars... we cant allow that stuff.
lastly, there needs to be a system in place that if legislators pass clearly unconstitutional laws that they are held accountable whether it be criminal or civil punishments. perhaps any laws that touch on Constitutional issues need judicial review before taking effect. that way the burden isnt on the citizenry to spend millions of their own dollars to fight an unjust law, that was passed by corrupt legislators, with agendas, who vote on these laws in the middle of the night under a message of necessity... or maybe a combination of all of this.
one thing is for certain, we need to change the current system because the corrupt politicians are holding all the cards with very little in the way of checks and balances. saying that the ballot box is our system of checks and balances is a false check because when there are no recall elections, no term limits, very loose campaign finance controls, the system is rigged to keep those who are in power, in power. its far easier for incumbents to keep their place than to get someone new and thats not how it was intended to be. hence the importance of the cartridge box, however; no one wants it to ever get that far so we need changes so that we actually have a fighting chance at the ballot box.
