OP, where in Austin are staying? Lots of places around but distance and traffic makes a difference.

Can't beat any LOCAL bbq joints... I'm not a huge fan of Salt Lick but that's just me...
ON for some other options. We got more than just bbq in this town! 
Takoba, Home Slice, Curras, Jacobys, East Side King @ Liberty Bar, Bangers, Hopdoddy, Backspace, Lucy's fried chicken, Way South Philly (food truck), Second Bar & Kitchen, Uchiko, Austin Beer Garden, La Condessa. |

VIA313 (pizza), Capital Taco (Pastor is bomb), Turf n Surf Po' Boy, Browns BBQ, Hey are You Going to Eat or What?(Sammiches), Chuys...
Basically, you could just go on yelp and find whatever 5 star floats your boat, it's unlikely you'll be disappointed -- most are food trucks so you might have to rub elbows with a hipster or two, but you should survive. |
