Anybody have an upper reciever lapping tool I could use around the Houston area?  Trying to put together a somewhat budget precision build and would like to try lapping the upper to see if it makes a difference.

Just bought a rainier arms match mid 16" and have yet to put it together.  First "precision" build I've done

Yes I have one. My shop is in Humble.

If its a forged upper, you may want to try it.

Billet upper, there is a miniscule chance you need it, you'll be wasting your time.

Bear in mind the only thing is does is make for more even expansion and contraction with heat, so if you're shooting groups, slowly, it'll never make a difference anyway. Where it matters is when the gun is hot and the deviation, and repeatability of that deviation from your cold zero.

What?

It doesn't remove high spots on the receiver so the barrel extension has 100 % contact, much like bedding ?
