We signed up to this service in April. All the bills have been lower year to year. This past month June to July, it was $100.00 less than last year.
No affiliation, just a recommendation. https://www.energyogre.com/ |

I have had the same success with them and always easy to get a real person on the phone when I need to speak to them. Been using them for a year now and have recommended soo many people over to them. I wish they had a referral program.
|
|
several friends use it and they all love it and swear by it.
If I wasn't in a coop and had a 10 kW solar system, I would sign up for it. |
|
We're in a Co-op too and cannot participate. So bummed out, it looks awesome.
|
|
Definitely interested in trying them out when our contract comes up again next year.
|
|
I started with EO in March, and every bill has been about 50% versus prior year's timeframe. I'm a big fan.
|
|
I may have to look in to this...says it could save me ~1300 a year. I am all electric.
Do you still get to pick the 6 month vs 12 month plans....or do they handle everything? |
|
Here's an example of my usage with EO versus Reliant, total cost, and savings from 2015 to 2016.
March/April 91.43 prior year 462 kwh 35.74 with EO 490 kwh April/May 98.98 prior year 508 kwh 48.14 with EO 676 kwh May/June 173.19 prior year 1024 kwh 73.52 with EO 1050 kwh June/July 213.14 prior year 1268 kwh 138.43 with EO 2007 kwh |

Well, here's another Arfcom thread that just cost me $120.00. They're spiel claims they can save me $1200.00 a year. We'll see. |

Gonna give them a shot. Just signed up. Always open to saving some green.

I guess I'm not doing too bad. I've got a Gexa Energy plan and my last bill was $73 with 933 kWh of usage. That was when I was home a lot and had the air on more. I've been keeping it at 78 during the day to keep costs down.

I was waiting for the hard hitting summer months to see if it really made a difference and it did. Nahhh...I just blame myself for getting on Arfcom. Actually, they hooked me up with a new outfit beginning today @ 5.3 cents per Kwh which is a couple cents cheaper than what I had found. We'll see. The problem with electric rates in Texas is shopping all the damn available plans and arriving at a plan that is not only the cheapest, but has the least number of foibles attached to it. It takes serious time and motivation to keep abreast of all the variables available. If they can save me 1 red cent more that $120.00 per year I'll be ahead.
|
|
Well I just agreed to use them... My new plan says I will pay 5.5 cents for 6 months and no minimum

MSNBC can be done with Sling (at $30 a month) but I've tried Sling orange for a few days and I never see anything to watch. Probably why I never watch cable. I may see about using the MIL's password for a few online things (like MSNBC). Hallmark can be watched with a cable login via a computer or mobile device (Android and ios). Big fail not having it on Roku. |

Just got my full first bill w/ energy ogre for Aug 3-Sept 2
Last year was $225 w/ 1661 kWh (inc tax fees) This year is $95.77 1578 kWh (inc tax fees) Savings of about $130 |

I'm in! I think I heard of this before but didn't jump on it for some dumb reason. Currently month-to-month with Green Mountain, so switching shouldn't be a problem. They say I can save $930 over the next year, though they underestimated past usage. Sounds promising.

One example is digital channel 4.1 (Fox) is clear as a bell even during bad weather and the tower is around 50 miles away. |

I'm switching from TXU. I Shpuld have paid more attention years ago, thank you for posting this.
FYI, I read that it is state law that providers must allow customers to switch two weeks prior to the contract expiration. |

Well, I used this thread to convince my wife to switch...you guys better be right, or I'll never hear the end of it....
My contract ends Saturday, they got me signed up with a new 6 month contract starting Friday... |
|
Over 7 months, my expense has averaged 48% of what they would have been under my prior provider when utilizing the same Kwh and my EO rate vs. my prior TXU rate. That includes the $10/month that EO charges. I've already saved $1,420 and should save approximately $2,200 over 12 months. Practically everyone in my entire department at work has changed over now and are all experiencing similar savings.
It Works. Quoted:

Thank You all for this thread and now I have cut my electric bill close to half off of what It was. Energy Ogre endeed up switching me to Startex Power and I could not be happier.

So, what companies have they hooked us up with?
They changed me over to StarTex. |
|
i just got my email, they signed me up with source power and gas too.

I just re-submitted my most recent bill from TXU, since they now have a full billing cycle of data to work with. We'll see what they come up with.
FWIW, I'm currently sitting at $131.90 for 1377 kWh. Call it $0.096/kWh average. Compared to what I'm used to at my old place in Ohio, that ain't bad honestly. And it's a lot warmer here than it is there. Everybody told me TXU would be expensive as shit (after I already ordered service - awesome timing ), but that doesn't seem particularly high to me. Maybe it's because I'm a new customer. ~1,900 sq ft (4bd, 2ba, single story, built in 2015, two adults, two kids), A/C kept at 73F 24/7. My contract ends 8/15/2017, and it's $150. I'm sure they'll factor that in. Fingers crossed! |

My last bill was 3435 kwh, 3000 sq ft two story, 73 degrees. However: The average price you paid for electric service this month (per kWh) = $0.056 My bill was $200. |
|
FALARAK: Its definitely an energy efficient house. My home inspector (an arfcommer) said as much, when he took thermal images of it. It definitely made me feel a lot better about pulling the trigger on it. There's a very good chance that my water bill will be more than my electric bill.
I pulled smart meter data from last year, and the month with the highest usage was actually February (I have a heat pump). Must have been a cold winter. |
