Would you like to see a thread tacked that you could trade your labor for some shooting or hunting time?
Please don't IM me . For example , I have a 3 sided pole barn that needs to be taken down . The part that will take the longest is pulling the nails out of the tin. I'd be willing to let you dove hunt or shoot clays or take the tin. This is just an example. PLEASE DO NOT IM ME !!! There is always something do on the ranch and not enough hands. Mods I am not looking to trade anything at this time. Is this thread OK? If not delete. Poll inbound. ETA. People are always posting about wanting to hunt. This maybe a way for it to happen here. |

Depending on what the mods say, it could work. Or maybe in the EE as a barter section or something. Just an idea.

I'd be down to trade labor for fun. This could be either interesting or craptastic, depending on where this goes.

I voted pie because I like pie.
There was a thread like this a few years ago but it died out. |

It was a thread about day dove hunts. One of the IM's was from a guy wanting to bring his son, brother ,tent, night vision , and suppressors . WTF? Plus I'm just asking if it would work here and not get locked. I'm not sure it would work in other HTFs because lots of public land. |

On some of the hog hunts we've sold, there was a guy (obviously never been hunting) that brought a home defense shotgun loaded with birdshot. We told him birdshot won't do anything for a pig. His reply was that birdshot was the best shot shell for self defense He figured that if he shot the pig right in the face, the bb's would pass right through the eyes and into the brain. We've had a few people make drain holes in their truck/car by "testing the safety" on their gun.... |

I wish we could have a thread where folks could post about their land and hunting rights whether be it for paid or labor trade.
Some people would to hunt but are afraid to ask. |

Unfortunately something like this is somehow going to run afoul the COC.
It would really be up to staff or the Avilas to give an official Okey Dokey. IM sent. |

It could work, but all depends on the people involved. Put out a help wanted ad on the internet, even here where we think we are all "like minded" and you will get a wide range of characters that show up. A friend of mine at work has 100 acres south of San Antonio and there is a group of us that go out there to hang out, shoot guns, ride 4 wheelers, BBQ, and drink beer every few weekends. We all understand the owner/friend always has some project to work on so part of the day is helping out in return for letting us go out there. Whether it's clearing brush, mowing, repairing stuff, etc. Sometimes we take our own projects out there to work on too. It works out well because we know each other, are like minded, and most importantly we respect the property and his stuff whether we are working or having fun.

Sounds like a winner to me. As long as both parties understand and keep their ends of the deal.

I'd be interested in trading labor for access.
I "think" the key to this deal would be the "compatibility" between the parties. Would stink if a goober showed up to do work they couldn't handle with the expectation of free blasting. Would also stink if someone worked their butts off and didn't get the access they thought was being given. Going to require good communication on both sides and some vetting to make it work. Just my opinion & YMMV. |

The problem would be if someone did an entire days worth of work, like you said, then he said "well, you tried and failed, never come back". Clearly in the example...pulling nails out of tin should be explanatory. If you watch someone fail at doing it for 30 minutes it should be a pretty easy vote. |

And just in case it wasnt obvious...Im in to work my butt off for some hunting priviledges.

I was helping him load rocks in the tractor bucket one time and dropped one on my thumb. He made me keep working even though my thumb looked like a exploded hot dog. Plus he always wants me to bring beer. |

I think it's a great idea and would be willing to work in exchange hunting opportunities. Most people who've leased land for hunting are used to going there multiple times each year to work on feeders, blinds, brush-hogging, etc. so it just seems like a natural deal to me. I have two adult sons who are also pretty good workers, great hunters and fun guys to hang out with, so count us in if you decide to do this deal. I live in Houston and one son lives in Austin and we're used to driving 3-4 hours to hunt, compete in shooting events, etc. The other son is in Oklahoma, in his 3rd year of vet school, so if you need some free vet work I'm sure we could work something out.

I've got 15 acres that's good for dove hunting and cat fish-ing. I'd be in on this idea.

This is above my volunteer non-pay grade. I have no problem with the suggestion and I like the idea, but Staff and Goatboy have the final say on it. If you want to pursue it, I can contact both to see where they stand. |

I could see some potential problems if people didn't honor their words but so far, every deal I have done on this site has been honored. |
