Anyone know of one I can get in contact with.  Preferably in the Houston area.  I have a few questions, and would like some professional input.  Thanks

Texas Law Shield is based in Houston.  You could easily contact them via the web site.

If it's not a personal question, you might consider asking at the Texas CHL Forum Or search their messages to see if the question has already been asked/answered. There are a lot of lawyers, CHL instructors on that site. Also, Charles Cotton runs the site and he's a lawyer based in Houston.

FWIW,

And even if you are not, their 2A lawyers ARE available for hire. I specifically asked them about this the other week.

Texas Law Shield called me today and asked if i had filled out my emergency form and wanted to know if I had any questions. I was in the middle of something at work, and I couldn't think of anything in particular at that moment, but they sound pretty proactive.

It has to do with a charge that I got many years ago that may prevent me from getting a CHL.  But on the other hand, I have never had an issue purchasing firearms other than I do usually get a delay.

No lawyer needed, just read the eligibility requirements.  If you have no convictions, you are eligible.  If you have an A or B conviction, you have to sit out the penalty period.  If you have a felony conviction, you are not eligible unless it was a felony that is now a misdemeanor then you could be eligible.

There are many felonies that, if over ten years ago deferred adjudication was received are not prohibitors.

OP, what and when was it?  I will quote the exact law here for you.
