God Bless Texas, and God bless all of the volunteers who came here to help, especially from Tennessee!
There were a lot of brave men who felt Texas was worth fighting and dying for.

I have no idea if any of my family fought for Texas but I need to find out.
Both sets of my grandparents- mom's and dad's parents, came to Texas from the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee around the 1920s. I figure someone from the family must have fought here.

AMEN, Brother!

The PRIDE, PATRIOTISM and BRAVERY of Texans knows no limits.

There's really no other place like it on the face of God's green earth.

You can't explain it--you have to live it and feel it in your bones.

I sure wish I were there back home....

What is absolutely amazing is what a Pivot of History the Battle of San Jacinto was.

Since the Texians won, Texas won it's independence from Mexico.

Independent Texas was eventually brought into the US of A.

Texas being granted statehood was the prime factor in the Mexican American War.

The Mexican American War brought in huge swaths of Land into the USA that became the states of New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, and don't forget California

So all the residents of those states (at least those who don't want to be Citizens of Mexico - ), can thank those Brave Men of the Texican Army for their valor and determination to fight for their freedom.

Texas!

What is so Sad is that though the many States that the Battle of San Jacinto eventually freed from Mexico,

there will be Huge Crowds who have Cinco De Mayo parties, (to celebrate a Mexican Victory over the French - ) and completely ignore the valiant battle of the outnumbered Texians who fought a do or die battle to win their freedom & independence!
