I'm considering moving back here in a year or two. Doc says a warmer climate will be good for me. I did love my time there though.

So so how have things been?

Rainy and voggy.  Harry Kim is the new old mayor. There's a new roundabout by Pahoa town near Malama Market.  The Police Chief retired, there's a new walking trail in the Bayfront/ soccer fields area.  Last section of the Saddle Road should be completed soon.  New cargo terminal at Hilo Airport.  We had an indoor (25 yd.) range in Hilo but they only lasted about a year before moving to Vegas.

Huh, wonder why they put the roundabout there.  That wasn't a horrible intersection, at least when I lived that way.  Shame to hear about the range though.  I never fired a single round the entire time I lived up in Hawaiian Acres.

Depending on how medical goes, I might seriously look at coming back though.  Would kind of suck to have to fly to Seattle every few months because my specialist is there.

I just went down to the Pepeekeo sugar mill area.  Lots of nice big homes coming up there.  Makes me want to move there from Honolulu.

Nice area, there's the Hu Honua power plant they're trying to get up and running near the Hilo end of that ag subdivision.  They were talking about using the eucalyptus from the timber plantations on the Hamakua coast as biomass for the plant.  Just a consideration for noise and large truck traffic with dirt/mud from all the trucks and soil.  Might be like the highways were when they were hauling sugar cane.

Just came back from Hilo. Miss it there but gun laws suck in comparison to AZ. Eventually going to move back, but need to save money first.

The gun laws definitely suck, plus the legislature meets annually so they get a chance to mess with your rights every fricking year.

HPD was giving me the stink eye when I imported my rifles when I moved there the first time.    Shame is I never had a chance to go hog hunting.

Best thing I can say is have all your paperwork in order before you go to the import desk.  They have weird hours for it as well.  Also be 100% sure whatever you are bringing in is legal in HI.  I'm debating not sbr'ing my .357 bolt action so I could bring it and use it for hog.
