Coast Folks:

Tell me about Pearl River County.  Could possibly relocate from the Delta to there in the next 6-12 months.  I have a wife and young kids, so schools and crime stats are important to me.  I'm pretty familiar with Harrison and Hancock Counties, never spent much time in Pearl River.  What do I need to know before coming?  Thanks.

It probably depends on where you end up. It's a pretty rural county.  Schools are not the best.  Crime depends on location but I don't think it's a high crime county.  It is a dry county unless you live in Picayne or Poplarville I think.  There isn't must to do from a city perspective.  There is a community college there.

What will you be going?

Looking at Picayune.  I'm in public safety(see avatar^).  It can't be worse than where I'm currently located.

How long is the drive from Picayune to Bay St Louis?  Looks like about 25 min.

I'd call the drive 30 minutes depending on time of day. Why not live in kiln? Halfwayish between the bay and prc. Cheaper too. Out in the country.

It's closer to 40-45 minutes from south Picayune to Bay St. Louis.  North exit is even further.
