I know nothing here will be facts, just opinions, so let me hear the opinions.

Moved here earlier this year from Kansas, have a valid Kansas CCW permit.  Got my MS drivers license in June.  MS law says you have to be a resident of MS for 1 year before applying for your CCW, unless you have a valid out of state permit.  I do have a valid KS permit, but I'm not a KS resident anymore.

So.......    anyone have an OPINION as to whether or not the KS CCW is still valid?  Or do I have to wait until next June to apply for a MS CCW?

Thanks for your thoughts on the matter!

PS - yes I have contacted the place I plan on taking the enhanced CCW class, I just haven't heard back yet.

Thanks again!

What?  And invite the man into my life?

Makes far too much sense.

Probably a good idea though, thanks.

I have a DL, Passport, and CCW. The man knows more about me than I do

Yeah, I may be hosed here.  I spent some time this morning reading through the KS laws (such fun I must say) and it says it's valid for 90 days after moving out of state IF you notify the KS attorney general in writing prior to moving and IF the new state you move to would accept such a license as valid.

So I'll probably have to wait until either 12 months from buying our house here or 12 months from the date on my MS drivers license, whichever is "the date" of residency.

Thanks!

Didn't MS change the law to where we don't need a CCW to carry concealed? Not trying to skirt the issue here. I know it helps a lot with purchases.

Also, I did not know you had to wait 1 yr. I moved back from 2 different states and both times I submitted the paperwork shortly afterwards. Reckon I ain't so read up on the laws

And welcome to MS pickle.

Yup!

I only kept mine for carrying in TN and to avoid the background checks

I know about the constitutional carry (we had that in KS as well) but like the poster above I go to TN for work and it's nice to be able to carry out of state.

Give Jeff Nester at the firearms division an email. He's pretty good about getting back to you.

Olive Branch here

I was told 6 months is what you have to change over, they "should" print it and give it to you right then.
