I don't think anyone in NM really cares about the balloon fiesta. More of a tourist trap I avoid ABQ this time of the year because of all the traffic

Balloon FIASCO!

I live a few miles from the Balloon Fiasco grounds.  All of the dogs start barking before the sun comes up, because the balloons are getting filled.  Traffic around here is like living in LA every day of the damned thing.
Don't even think about going out to eat while it is going on, as every restaurant around here is packed.  Even the grocery stores are filled with people.

Only good thing about it is there are quite a few Germans come to see it and I get to actually speak German to somebody that understands it.

But think about the revenue it generates for the local economy.
