We know its coming, we just don't know when, where or how fun it will be. So what have YOU been doing to prepare?
I'll be the first to step forward and say pretty much jack shit. I am making some mental moves, which will soon be turned into real moves. Most notably: adding in some heavy dragging to the workout routine and bringing something to the long range portion (should their be one) other than what it basically a skinny barrel 308. Gear wise: -Changing up the IR light production for both rifle and pistol. -Making sure I bring a camelback. Still on the fence on adding one to the regular "fighting rig". more on that later. But definitely needed for this. -I'd like a different barrel for my 12.5, which is what I ran this time. But what I want doesn't exsist. So I may just deal with it. It's a skinny barrel as well, and with the suppressor mounted I was having some SERIOUS POI shift on the far steel targets even after just a few shots. A medium-heavy contour, hammer forged, chrome lined would be nice. Still happy with my aging Eagle chest rig. Low pro, everything I need and nothing I dont. Health/physical wise: - CARDIO - Adding in heavy dragging - more squats. everyone needs more squats. - more pull ups. see above - MORE CARDIO. - more training with minimal calories and liquids. Obviously not all the time or even often, but I need to experience it more often in safe, mostly controlled conditions. I'm not training how im fighting if theres a half full bottle of gatorade in my dump pouch and a comfy seat waiting for when I get done. Still happy with massive beard. Filtered humid swamp air into pure 100% viking oxygen, kept steel frag off my face, and impregnated everyone that drove down Valentine that day. Feel free to add your own comments, concerns, day dreams etc. Be advised, if you talk about the actual course and how things could have been worse, Rich will probably take the ideas under advisement. Like burpees from the house to the long range. through the ditch instead of over the bridge. unknown distance from the tower with your carbine. etc. |

Lifting twice a week, same as the last 12 months. Oh, and holding my office chair down with my fat ass! This part is really important....
In reality, for me, I will add more cardio into my workout once we hear of a date for WW3. But other than that, I will just continue my mild weekly core workout routine. Oh and of course throw a little shooting in there on a weekly basis if at all possible. |
|
More cardio.
Gonna try to find a tire to flip, drag, and beat on. |
|
Haven't done crap since the last one. That's after swearing I was a changed man was going to get back to my youth.
Well, I shoot, but I don't run. Or lift. Or cardio? What's this cardio you speak of? If I were in good shape I wouldn't get to drop like a rock in thick mud at the end and feel my heart pounding out my ears as I lay in the weeds. Where's the fun if no weeds? |

How long is the uncut footage (i.e. how long did it take you, start to finish)? As for my prep, maybe a pushup or two every few days, and a jog down the hallway. Boy I hope I can snag a spot and have it workout with my schedule! Then I'm gonna have the patch tattooed on my shoulder. |

I hope to lose another 30 befor the next one. Seems like I heard that there might be a chance for cold weather WW. As for over all time I would have to go back and look I know it was not fast! This was the heaviest I have ever been weighing in a little over 300lbs. |

The first thing I did was to cut out sodas(Dr Peppers) I would drink anywhere from 6 to 8 a day.
Then cut out fast food and started eating better food at home. Not a lot of fried stuff mostly grilled lots of rice. Started walking again and some running. |

Great job Shooters. I started out 2014 at 225 or so now down to 188 - 190.

It's the weight lifting portion. Would love to get my 1000lb patch. That's all pretty ambitious though. Great job on the weight loss fellas. I was almost 220 the first time I went to DARC. Fat and weak. Down in the 180s now and can squat and deadlift 2x my body weight. Upper body is still lagging behind but it's better than it was. |

I watched a couple of vids my brother took at 2.0 and decided I'm bringing a .45 next time.
I had to hit the pistol targets 2 and 3 times for them to fall with the 9. |

What have I done to prep, you ask? I got a fucking job to pay for the ammo.

But the recoil might slow you down on the others. I just view it as good training for shooting till the threat ceases to be a threat. |

I was actually shooting +p+ FMJ sub gun ammo out of my M&P 9 at WW2, which i though might knock over the plates with a single shot each. WRONG..... I got all down, but a couple pf the plates took 2-3 shots and that one goofed up plate took so many hits i quit counting but finally fell. Although, I recently found this 9mm ammo which actually has 10% more muzzle energy than the NATO 230gr ball 45 ACP! http://www.underwoodammo.com/9mmlugerp124graingolddotjackethollowpointboxof50-2-1.aspx |
