In what world is a we lost 50% of our games but that's good enough to get us a bowl game. It almost like the whole world of sports is turning into the we showed up so we are all winners me mentality. I guess it's just me but I just can't get excited with today's sports. |

Didn't know we had Auburn right out of the gate this year.
Don't think that bodes well. But then I don't think Brandon Allen being our QB sets us up for much success, either. Oh well. |

I like your prediction much better than mine.
I look at that schedule and I can only see 4-8. It will get better, but I think 2015 will be the year to see the upswing. I hope I'm wrong. |

I've always found them charming, mostly. Alabama gives a little perspective, I suppose. Granted someone in Fayetteville did light the Auburn Tiger Van tail on fire several years ago, so... The multiple car fires is odd. Be interested to hear if there's a connection. |

Yesterday's game against Auburn wasn't the greatest, especially in the 2nd half. However, I feel this team has improved over last year and will continue to improve in the near future. WPS.

Unfortunately they have a long recovery ahead, and I'm not sold Bielema is the man for it. Petrino is a royal dick, but he can coach. His planning and recruiting gave Arkansas an advantage exactly where they need it. We've talked about this before (I think), but Arkansas cannot (for the time being) bring in the talent that the bigger schools can. They're success will depend on someone understanding that Arkansas will never be able to match up head-to-head against bigger, stronger teams. They will win with superior speed and depth. Oregon has proven it can work if done properly, and BP was on the road to proving it can work in the Natural State as well. Unfortunately he thought better of some average tail than what he had going on the field. |

Our O-line is bigger than the O-line of 28 NFL teams. We are the biggest and I would guess right up there with the strongest. They rolled over the defensive line of Auburn in the first half. There was a drop in intensity during the second half and that could have been the heat but I'll bet it was experience. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Oregon has proven it can work if done properly, and BP was on the road to proving it can work in the Natural State as well. Unfortunately he thought better of some average tail than what he had going on the field. Okay, the O-line is bigger than 28 NFL teams. What about fullbacks? What about tight ends? What about recievers? What about linebackers and defensive backs? Arkansas has had some of the biggest O-linemen for 25 years, but it makes no difference when the rest of the team is overmatched. We had an All-American O-line and running back corps in 2006, but we couldn't move the ball in the air and our defense got torched while Reggie Herring insisted we could play man-to-man no matter what. Works pretty well if the other team is worse than you; not so much if they're better. And that drop in intensity is a lack of depth and/or talent - Auburn played in the same heat. Still, we're arguing apples and oranges. The fact of the matter is that Arkansas cannot match up against the bigger teams in the league. There's no two ways about it - it has been proven over the past 20 years. What I am saying is that BP put into practice exactly what I suggest has to be done, chiefly that Arkansas can win games only if they decide to play "around" teams a la Oregon, Mizzou, Boise, etc. You can have the biggest, strongest fat guys in the league, but if you overuse them or use them wrong, they're going to tire within a game and get worn down within the season, and eventually they'll break. If you don't have anything ready to go behind them, you're done. Anyway, my whole point is that the style of play - in my very humble opinion - needs to change. |
