What is the age in Alaska to purchase a handgun from an individual not an FFL? Is it 18? I know some states are that way and I imagine that AK is like that but I can't find the statute. If you could provide a link that would be helpful.

Far as I know (from researching for a potential upcoming move, Alaska DPS site), Alaska doesn't add anything on top of or different from federal law.

So for handguns, you just have to be 18 to purchase or take possession of a handgun from a non-dealer.

Federal law involves a whole lot of reading in section 922.
