If you want the exact verbiage, read through Iowa Code 724 Just to clarify the loaded magazine must be a detached magazine and it applies to any detachable magazine. W/o a permit the weapon must be in a case and unloaded. The detachable magazine can be anywhere. With a permit any pistol, rifle or shotgun can be in the open and fully loaded if you desire. In fact, in Iowa, your permit is good for any weapon that is legal in Iowa. However, only firearms are covered under the preemption law where state law applies not local ordinances or resolutions.. For other weapons local ordinances can apply. |
