I've got my concealed carry in Wisconsin and see that I can carry in your state.  Anything I need to know about your state/city laws? Things someone from out of state wouldn't know.

Some examples:

Do I have to tell a police officer if I'm carrying if I stop and ask for directions?

Can I have loaded AR mags in my vehicle?

Any places you can't carry besides schools, gov property?

What places in town do I avoid?

I'm going to be at the Iowa Events Center for a racing trade show.  Where do you go for some night life?

Not required to inform.

Loaded mags are fine.  You can even have them in the AR.  It is a weapons permit and covers the gamut.

You listed the only restricted sites in your question, with the exception of the Iowa State Fairgrounds which isn't applicable in your travels.

I'm not fond of directly north of I235 in the downtown area.

I don't go out on the town much, so someone else will have to help you there.

Have fun, and safe travels.

north of I 235 drake area has its "hood rats" but not as bad as the east side of course you don't need to go there.

I believe the Iowa events center states "no firearms" but I am sure you can go in with one I don't think they will wand you

night life is nice downtown if you are younger lots of bars and women kinda expense though. girls sure do like the beer can alley bar (country bar) I am not really redneck or a douche in boots and flannel so its meh. Mickey is a good irish pub usually has an DJ I personally like el bait shop they have like 100 beers on tap then there is a bar and grill next door I forget what it is called that has good food I think it was one Man v Food or something?

Casino gambling floors also. Not the whole complex just the gambling floor.

Also signs carry no force of law in Iowa so you can either choose to ignore it or not give the place your patronage. If you do enter and are asked to leave (by a representative/owner of the business/property) you must or you can be charged with trespass.

Thanks everybody. Made it down already even thought the wind was trying to push me into the ditch.

Got to see for the first time, I think, a body in a body bag at a scene of an accident in Wisconsin.

Highlife is one of my favorite downtown bars.  What do you race, or sell?

Good thing you got here today, tomorrow is going to suck.  From WI you're surely familiar with snow, but it's never worth traveling if you don't have to in the sh@t.

I wouldn't get excited over body bags, dead people on the road gets old pretty quick.  Five died in less than 48 hrs this weekend.

If you're into muscle cars you could go to American Dream Machines on Locust downtown. The owner is kind of a dick but he has neat cars.
