just wondering if .50 BMG API is legal to own in IA. I read over the laws but didnt' really understand if API would fall under the guidelines they have. I don't have a .50BMG, just want to buy a box for the novelty.
 . Plus, I told my wife that if we ever come into a bunch of money I'm going to buy a Barrett S/A.

As far as I know it is... for good prices on it ($2.32/rd last i checked) check out freedommunitions.

They have free shipping for first time customers so it's hard to beat $23/shipped for a 10rd box of .50 API. Plus if I have the ammo doesn't that mean I have to buy a gun to shoot it with?

Fyi, if you're on a budget check out Serbu 50's made in Florida. I'm not sure how the bull pup design would work with me being left handed. It looks like the bolt handle might hit me. I was thinking about getting the LH version of the Armalite AR50, although my dream gun would be a Barrett M82A1.

I've got one of the BFG-50's and shoot left handed... the handle doesn't get in the way. I will say that the tube design leaves a little to be desired for a cheek rest, and I haven't found a good option for one yet. I'm thinking about having someone make a kydex saddle wrapped in leather for it...

A .50 is definitely on the wish list but that would mean I'd have to sell some stuff and with me that's easier said than done. Biggest decision holding me back is deciding if I want it chambered in .50 BMG or .50 Spotter-Tracer.
