I strongly considered that since I have a buddy that reloads shotgun, but I don't want to have training dummies that are anywhere close to the color of my live rounds.  I purchased the white versions.

I know I could have bought some off-colored shells, but then I would have had to think about what to do with the primer pocket.  These are premade and I am a lazy individual.

Buy a box of shells that are different color, I used translucent blue and shoot them. Dont de prime and reload with shot. Easy.

Not the member you quoted, but I have not. What am I getting myself into? Never shot any competition aside from clay pigeons.

How many rounds/mags, etc should I bring for each gun?

ETA: seen multiple responses for May 10, is this the confirmed date?

What am I getting myself into? A fun Saturday, filled with good company and shooting

How many rounds/mags, etc should I bring for each gun? More details on the round count will come later... but if you've got the means to carry 1 rifle mag and 2 pistol mags on a belt, you'll be good to go. We will probably just have a box of shells sitting on a table again, for the shotgun reloads.

ETA: seen multiple responses for May 10, is this the confirmed date? From my understanding, Yes, this will be the date.

You should make me up a dozen of those... I'll buy you a beer for the work.

Spart,
When you are dry firing guns, it's important not to have any loaded mags/live rounds near by.  Once you clear the area of live ammo you will be set to use whatever color of shotgun shell you choose.

It will be something like this but with more targets:

But with the course of fire looking something like this. (note the slug shoot will be down the bay)

What you will need:

1 centerfire rifle with 1 x reload (no steel core ammo)
1 centerfire rifle with 1-2 reloads
Shotgun  it will be 10-20 shots with the need to switch to slug/

Lets make it 4 gun and after you shoot the 3 gun section you have to run to where we did the long range shoot and ping a bunch of swingers from 100-800!

ryan is a ringer he is pretending to know nothing to make us all look bad.  I might be in trouble I don't have a big boy fighting handgun right now.  I can shoot my 9c I guess.

I like the slug change out idea.  Is there a way that we can make it a on command item so it cannot be gamed into magazine ect.  This can be done by a mover or simple a called out command to hit it.  other wise people with segas will just load the slug in the order of magazine they need rather than working the gun.

You are welcome to use my FNS-9 or Sig 226. Anybody is.

The slug change over will done in a way that hopefully level the playing field. Mostly it will be done by having everyone sit on the porch to spectate, so no one will really see the shotgun stage and if some one blabs it will only hurt them. Or we can just stack the saiga/vepr shooters earlier in the shoot.

Not to mention that if they shoot a slug outside of the bay it would be an immediate DQ for safety reasons, so we may have to mandate I a mag change on their part.

Buy one of these and stop whining: 4x4 Shell Carrier

Our quickest time last time came form TheMirage, who (IIRC) was using a 5-shot gun.  Or I might be making that up.  Either way, that carrier is pretty awesome.  I may have to buy a second one after I'm done building my AR-10.

what kind of slug will I need for a choked barrel, I've never put a slug through my 500 yet.

Also will the slug target be at long range, would 00 Buck work?

Haha, I was just thinking about this and I haven't cleaned any of the guns I used last time.  Just added some oil to the AR.

ETA: got my dummy rounds that bob was bitching about.  They're nicely weighted, there's even something where the powder would be (not real powder one hopes) that accurately replicates the balance of a live round of birdshot.  Also, the crimp didn't come undone after about 30 minutes of practicing my dry-gun reload (one into chamber, 7 into tube.)

My thumb is bleeding again...  I may need to get the loading port beveled on the M2.

Well, that and the damn carrier.  It's called "Benelli thumb" for a reason.

I even purchased an extra carrier for the sole purpose of mailing off for modification.  Procrastinated, it's sitting on my desk right in front of me.
