The BATFE announced it's intent to reclassify it as armor piercing due to it's possible use in pistols and therefore ban
it from commercial and private sales. Just another case of an alphabet agency being used to bypass the legislative branch with
de facto gun control.

If you think you're just not the eloquent type, the just use this:
I am writing to you in response to a recently released notice from the
ATF to re-classify M855/SS109 ammunition in an effort to ban it from the
consumer market.
See "ATF FRAMEWORK FOR DETERMINING WHETHER CERTAIN PROJECTILES ARE
"PRIMARILY INTENDED FOR SPORTING PURPOSES” WITHIN THE MEANING OF 18
U.S.C. 921(a)(17)(C)"
http://www.atf.gov/sites/default/files/assets/Library/Notices/atf_framework_for_determining_whether_certain_projectiles_are_primarily_intended_for_sporting_purposes.pdf
The ATF is proposing to restrict civilian sales of M855/SS109 (also
xM855) ammunition, which has been allowed by the same agency for nearly
30 years. This ammunition is commonly used by individuals for target
shooting, and by groups participating in rifle competitions and/or
training for these same events. This ban would impact the ability of
law-abiding citizens to continue purchasing this widely available and
affordable ammunition. Additionally, the banning/restricting of
M855/SS109 by the ATF is simply a backdoor attempt to adversely affect
users of the AR15 platform by restricting ammunition options.
This notice clearly goes against the protection provided by the 2nd
amendment of "shall not infringe”, and I believe the SS109 projectile
does not meet the definition of an armor piercing projectile as defined
by the statute(s) cited in the proposal.
Attorney General Eric Holder recently stated his biggest regret was
the inability to pass any "gun safety laws.” With his statement in mind,
we must look at any attempt of the DOJ to restrict firearms and
ammunition as side-stepping the legislative process and implementing
back door gun control. The BATFE is reinterpreting a law that has been
in place for nearly 30 years and basing this interpretation on sheer
speculation. The BATFE did not present any evidence of this ammunition
being used in a crime, but wants to stop law-abiding citizens from
purchasing this commonly used ammunition.
I look forward to your response on this topic and appreciate your service to the residents of the state of South Dakota.
At the very least, our representation in Washington will at least know that we are aware of these backdoor attempts at unconstitutional
gun control. So get off your dead ass and do 3-4 minutes of work to at least draw attention to this complete and utter bullshit.
If you want to boil your blood, read the text of the announcement.

I've never once read anything about "hunting" in the Constitution. Ever.
