i'm thinking about hosting something sort of similar to the old hometown forum get together in August 19-21 (sat/sun/mon), south of Cookeville again, to coincide with the total solar eclipse that will go right through the property just after noon on Monday.  However, this isn't quite like the previous events in that the event would not be so focused on shooting but be equal parts

-camping on private land but next door to a state park with lots of water/waterfall,
-shooting (i'll have steel targets from 10 to 1000+ yards for pistol/carbine/long rifle, and you can shoot a few rounds after dark using Night Vision too)
-wheeling...  bring your jeep or truck and we will do a short section of the Kentucky Adventure Trail near Jamestown http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/the-kentucky-adventure-tour-kat.919224/

there would be a minimal cost in the $30-40 range. (a little more if i have to get insurance for the shooting)
also, my guess is more than half the people would not be members of this forum.

we can set up some spotting scopes and cameras etc.    The last total solar eclipse I got to see was in the 1970s.

anyways, i haven't totally worked out the details, just checking to see if there is any interest

btw, according to nasa's zoomable map https://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/SEgoogle/SEgoogle2001/SE2017Aug21Tgoogle.html
the line will actually cross through the field we're camping in.  can't get a better view than that!

I might could be up for that. Can't make a commitment as of yet but sounds good.

And Hank just put a small lift and some slightly bigger tires on the Subie. I've seen a guy on you tube with one done that way. I'm just not quite ready to do it to either one of hours. You can be the Guinea pig.

I've seen a Crosstrek or two done like that, they actually look pretty good!

I'm eyeing a Toyota truck next, though.

Get one.  I've had mine for 10 years and still love it.

I'm sure Taliv will chime in, but it's never been men-only in the past. Several wives and daughters were present before, as well as some female ARFCOMers.

Hey Tom, I'm in dude.  Also can bring a couple of spotting scopes, phone scope attachment, ...

Also, I'd be bringing the FJ and would be down for some wheeling.

I am scheduled to work that weekend on nights. I will see what I can do about swapping shifts with folks. Looks like fun camping.. My wife would be coming. She was the only female at the TNHTF shoot last January near Reelfoot Lake. Maybe she will get some company this time.

Definitely interested, but August is a ways away to say definitely for me.  If nothing else I could come Saturday and/or Sunday.
